Physicians East proudly welcomes Peyton Baird, a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC), to Greenville OB/GYN. Peyton is an Eastern North Carolina native who began her nursing journey at Pitt Community College, earning her Associate of Science in Nursing. She later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama.

Peyton began her career as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Vidant Medical Center and later served as both a charge nurse and staff nurse with UNC Health Lenoir. After completing her graduate degree, she joined Kinston Community Health Center as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

Peyton is committed to delivering care that promotes wellness and empowers women across all life stages. She is skilled in managing prenatal and postpartum patients, performing in-office gynecologic procedures, and addressing a wide range of women’s health needs, including hormonal management, PCOS, endometriosis, and preventive care, while incorporating a thoughtful, whole-person approach to each patient’s unique goals.

Outside of work, Peyton enjoys exercising, spending time with her friends, family, and her animals, staying involved in her church community, and visiting local coffee shops. She looks forward to serving the women and families of this community.

Physicians East proudly welcomes Nicki Downes, DO to the new Physicians East Hematology, Oncology, and Breast Surgery Department! Dr. Downes is a Surgical Breast Oncologist with a passion for treating Breast Cancer. She is a local to the Greenville region. Dr. Downes obtained her bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from East Carolina University. She then attended Lincoln Memorial DeBusk College where she received her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. After completing her fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Akron in 2021 and General Surgery residency at University of Pittsburg Medical Center, she returned home. Her goal is to offer the most up to date surgical care to the women of Eastern North Carolina.

Areas of expertise include more aesthetically appealing hidden scar techniques and oncoplastic surgical approaches as well as breast reconstruction with ni**le sparing, skin sparing with implants, liposuction, fat grafting, and contralateral symmetry procedures. She also manages all breast cancers in high-risk populations, benign breast disease, stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies, and multidisciplinary evidence-based treatment.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Downes enjoys target shooting, the mandolin, home projects, traveling, and all sports outdoors. She currently lives on a hobby farm with her husband and children.
