🚨 INJURY DOESN’T CARE HOW BIG OR STRONG YOU ARE 🚨
Even elite, powerful athletes can get hurt — what matters is how you rebuild.

Being big, strong, and explosive doesn’t make you bulletproof.

This soon-to-be collegiate football player suffered a patellar dislocation — a reminder that strength alone doesn’t protect the knee if movement control and stability aren’t dialed in.

Right now, we’re rebuilding from the ground up 👇
🔹 Single-leg jump rope to restore rhythm, timing, and elastic control
• Improves ankle-knee-hip coordination
• Challenges balance and reactive stability
• Reintroduces controlled impact in a safe, progressive way

🔹 Hip & quad stabilization work
• Strengthening the muscles that actually guide knee position
• Improving how force is absorbed and redirected
• Reducing stress on passive structures like ligaments

🔹 Movement re-mapping
Injury changes how the brain trusts the body. We don’t just “get strong” —
we retrain movement patterns, rebuild confidence, and restore efficient mechanics so athletes can cut, jump, decelerate, and compete without hesitation.

This is how you move from injury → recovery → full performance.

If you’re an athlete dealing with a knee injury — or a parent of one — don’t wait.
Early, intentional rehab makes all the difference.

If you’re a parent, this thought has probably crossed your mind:
“What if my child tears their ACL… and are they ever the same again?”

That fear is real—and we see it every week.

At Milestone, ACL rehab doesn’t stop when physical therapy ends.
That’s where most athletes fall through the cracks.

We’ve built a true Bridge Program that takes athletes from rehab all the way back to sport—methodically, intentionally, and confidently.

Here’s how we do it differently ⬇️

✔️ PT → Bridge → Return to Sport
We guide athletes through the entire process, not just the injury phase.

✔️ Home-grown Limb Symmetry Index (LSI) testing
We use a battery of sport-specific tests to objectively compare side-to-side performance—so decisions aren’t based on guesswork, but real data.

✔️ Full-body, full-function training
ACL recovery isn’t just about the knee. We train strength, deceleration, acceleration, rotation, and total-body control.

✔️ Start–stop progressions that build confidence
We gradually reintroduce speed, cutting, volume, and capacity—helping athletes trust their body again.

✔️ Support after return to sport
We continue to prepare and recover athletes as they compete—because performance and injury prevention don’t stop at clearance.

This is why families trust Milestone.
We aren’t just physical therapy.
We are the full athletic care continuum for your athlete.

If your child is rehabbing an ACL—or you want a plan that protects their future—we’re here for the long game.

Train with science.
Build confidence.
Return stronger.

Contact us if your child is anywhere on the ACL continuum and needs high level assistance to rehab, train, or prepare/recover from competition.

Every journey starts somewhere. Ours started with a doodle. 🛣️

Milestone’s humble beginnings began at the kitchen table—with our founder Brad Howell sharing ideas, and his wife Carly sketching them out on paper. Inspired by their son Miles’ name, those early drawings quickly became something bigger: a symbol of movement, progress, and the journey through life’s many milestones.

What started as a simple road concept evolved into a logo that represents each individual’s path—the twists, turns, setbacks, and victories along the way. As our business has grown and our services have expanded, our logo has evolved too. But our mission has never changed.

Today, with 10 full-time and 5 part-time team members, we’re proud to be trusted by the communities we serve—helping people recover, rebuild, and perform at their highest level through every stage of life.

Same vision. Deeper roots. Bigger impact.
Here’s to every milestone—past, present, and ahead. 💛🖤

This is why what we do matters.

Linda has been working hard on her rehab—not just to improve strength and mobility, but to stay independent in her home after the recent passing of her husband, Von.

Through consistent movement, guided strength, and encouragement, Linda has gained the confidence and physical ability to continue living safely at home on her own. That independence means everything.

At Milestone, our mission is bigger than treating a diagnosis.
It’s about helping people live the fullest life possible, through every season—especially the hard ones.

We believe healing happens best when it’s paired with relationships, encouragement, and genuine care.

Linda inspires us every day.
And we’re honored to walk alongside her.

❤️

If you have a love one who needs help with gaining back independence, we would be honored to help them on their journey.

Stretching isn’t fixing your pain… and here’s why.

If tight muscles were the real problem, stretching would work permanently.
But for most people, the issue isn’t short muscles — it’s a nervous system that doesn’t trust you in certain positions.

Here’s what’s really happening 👇

Your brain controls how much range of motion you’re allowed to use.
If it senses weakness, instability, or poor control, it creates tightness as protection.

That’s why:
• You stretch → feel better for 10 minutes
• Then the tightness comes right back

Mobility and strength are neurologically linked.
You don’t own range of motion unless you can produce force and control it there.

True mobility =
✔️ Adequate tissue capacity
✔️ Strength in end ranges
✔️ Neuromuscular control

When strength improves in a range, the nervous system relaxes its “guard,” and mobility follows.

That’s why effective rehab and training includes:
• Loaded mobility
• Controlled strength through full range
• Progressive exposure to positions your body avoids

Stretching isn’t bad — it’s just incomplete.

If you want lasting change, you don’t just lengthen muscles…
you train your brain to trust movement again.

👉 Follow us for smarter rehab, better training, and movement that actually sticks.

Benefits of The Triple Switch Wall Drill

1️⃣ Improves Sprint Mechanics
• Trains front-side mechanics (knee up, foot under hips)
• Reduces over-striding
• Encourages vertical force production vs braking

2️⃣ Enhances Neuromuscular Timing
• Teaches the brain and body to switch limbs fast and clean
• Improves coordination and rhythm, which carry directly into acceleration and max-velocity running

3️⃣ Builds Elastic Stiffness
• Reinforces quick ground contacts
• Helps athletes develop reactive strength at the ankle and foot
• Great precursor to plyometrics or sprint work

4️⃣ Low Impact, High Transfer
• Minimal joint stress compared to full sprinting
• Perfect for:
• Early-phase speed work
• Warm-ups
• Return-to-run or post-injury progression

5️⃣ Exposes Weak Links

This drill quickly shows:
• Asymmetrical arm swing
• Poor hip flexor control
• Trunk collapse or rotation
• Delayed ground contact timing

🚨 Just had a rotator cuff repair… or one coming up? READ THIS FIRST 👇

Rotator cuff rehab isn’t about rushing.
It’s about guiding the shoulder through the right phases at the right time so the tendon can heal AND you regain confidence using your arm again.

At Milestone Physical Therapy, we guide patients through a 4-phase, expert-led recovery process:

🔹 Phase 1: Rest & Protect
We focus on passive motion, posture, and keeping the elbow/wrist moving while protecting the repair.

🔹 Phase 2: Active-Assisted Motion
Using body positioning, pulleys, dowels, and the opposite arm to restore motion without overstressing the repair.

🔹 Phase 3: Transition to Active Motion
You begin moving your shoulder on your own — with precise cueing for scapular control and mechanics.

🔹 Phase 4: Progressive Strengthening
Building strength in all planes, restoring shoulder and scapular stability, and translating it back to real-life tasks like lifting, pushing, pulling, and overhead reaching.

🧠 Important to know:
In the first 4 weeks, you cannot speed up tendon healing — biology matters. Our job is to guide you safely, manage expectations, and optimize recovery between sessions with hands-on care.

Sometimes snowstorms hit and your week is turned upside down.

Ross, a commercial airline pilot, had a significant knee injury where he tore his ACL and patellar tendon requiring two separate procedures to repair. It has been a long journey over several months for him but he has worked his butt off. This week he could have made excuses due to the weather and the fact his daughter was with him all day with no alternatives. He didn’t though. He showed up and stayed consistent to the process and modeled real grit to his young daughter.

At Milestone, we value family. We strive to give you our absolute best in treatment and leverage our expertise so you can show up and get back to all the things that matter most.

Great work, Ross!

Big day developing these young athletes at every level. 💪

We coached multiple pillars of athletic development—from proximal trunk control, postural strengthening, reactive sport specific training to sprint mechanics, agility, coordination, and rotational power. The younger siblings jumped in too and crushed the fundamentals for their first session 👏

Strength is not the goal for young athletes. They need true motor learning to repattern movement, build resilience, and move with confidence. That takes understanding of the central nervous system. That’s how you create long-term athletic development.

At Milestone, we leverage science-driven training to give athletes an edge—on the field and beyond.
