✨ They lower stress hormones like cortisol

🧠 Less Inflammation in the Brain…

Most people are trying to lower inflammation in their body, but no one is talking about inflammation in the brain.

And this is where I see so many patients stuck.

They’re eating clean.They’ve cut out sugar.They’re taking the supplements.They’re working on their gut health.

Yet they still feel…

✨ Exhausted✨ Achy✨ Wired but tired✨ Brain fogged✨ Inflamed despite “doing everything right”

As a Nurse Practitioner, this is where I pause and shift the conversation.

Because if your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight…

Your body still thinks it’s under constant threat.

And healing cannot happen in survival mode.

Chronic stress keeps cortisol and adrenaline elevated, disrupts sleep, worsens pain, increases fatigue, and can even flare autoimmune symptoms.

So what does lowering inflammation in the brain actually look like?

It looks like learning how to shift your state.

➡️ Fight-or-Flight➡️ Rest-and-Heal

One simple tool I teach patients:

🫁 1-Minute Breathing Reset

• Inhale through your nose — 4 seconds• Hold — 4 seconds• Exhale slowly — 6–8 seconds• Repeat for 1 minute

Longer exhales activate the vagus nerve and send a signal of safety to the brain.

Other ways we reduce neuro-inflammation:

🌿 Managing thought patterns🌿 Reducing information overload🌿 Prayer or meditation🌿 Time in nature🌿 Gratitude + grounding practices

We can’t just focus on anti-inflammatory foods…

We also need anti-inflammatory thoughts, environments, and habits.
