I hope you are all doing well! This week was was the last official day of the school year in Groton, so it’s officially summertime! ☀️ Time flies when you are having fun, seems like May was over in a blink and now it’s summer break!

The summer season is filled with vibrant energy and is also the season of warmth, growth, and transformation. We have some wonderful things planned this summer, so make sure to check out the summer schedule below.

I’ve got a special guided relaxation up on my Patreon for the summer solstice that I’m excited to share with you. We did the practice on Monday night, and it was so rejuvenating. We take a relaxing journey through a summer meadow to help us synchronize with the rhythm of nature and begin to shift into the season of action 🪴to check it out click 👉 https://www.patreon.com/posts/84817692?utm_campaign=postshare_creator

And if you enjoyed the class consider joining us on Mondays for gentle yoga and guided relaxation. It’s a nice way to end the day and start off the week right! Some of my students like to say it’s like hitting the reset button before bed, shedding the stress from the day ❤️

You can also check out some of my other free classes, or sign up to get weekly updates and access to additional classes. I’d love to share all that we’ve been doing since January with you! We’ve created a nice core group of yogis, sharing our love for these slower more relaxing styles of yoga. This is all available by signing up to be a monthly member, www.restoringblissyoga.com/member-areas or following me on Patreon. I post in both places 🧘‍♀️

this membership includes all of my livestream classes for one monthly price: Gentle Yoga & Guided Relaxation, Guided Meditation, Yin Yoga & Chill, & Mindfulness Meditation. You can join us live, or watch the recordings at your own pace.

And if in person is what you crave, join me in August at PTYC for Yin Yoga! Every Monday night in August from 6:30-7:30!

And any questions or comments I’d love to hear from you! And if I don’t see you around this summer have a fantastic summer break and safe travels 😎

Daylight savings time is ruff…
-
It doesn’t matter if we are falling back or springing forward, I always feel jet lagged.
-
If this is you too (or maybe you are also like me and sleep is a struggle on a good day) I invite you to join me tomorrow night, Nov 7, on zoom for Yoga Reset!

https://linktr.ee/restoringblissyoga

And if you enjoy it, consider adding this practice to your wellness routine and join me every Monday night!
-
Yoga Reset (also known as Yoga Nidra) is a systematic method of guided relaxation that has a profound effect on the body, mind and emotions.
-
During the practice, you are guided through various stages of deeper relaxation, allowing the mind to become more relaxed and more receptive.
-
The practice can help release physical tension, reduce mental and emotional stress, increase creativity, aid in memory retention, help us to have a better night sleep, and have better overall wellbeing.
-
We begin class 20-25 minutes of gentle yoga, to allow your body to prepare for the relaxation: loosen stiff muscles from sitting at a desk all day! Then you will come to lie down on your mat and be guided through the systematic guided relaxation. All you have to do is listen to the guided meditation and find yourself relaxing and maybe even falling asleep.
-
Guided Relaxation is a wonderful practice that anyone can do. It leaves the student feeling rested, relaxed, less stressed and many students have reported having a great nights sleep after practicing this yoga technique.

Restoring Bliss Yoga & Meditation offers two Yin Yoga sessions: Mondays 8:30 - 9:30 PM and Wednesdays 7:30 - 9:00 PM. It involves a series of seated and supine postures, typically held for 3-5 minutes at a time. During these prolonged periods of stillness, the yogi experiences a surrendering sensory awakening that melts away residual tension and stress. Let the restoration begin!

I've just finished planning our classes for the week, and I think you will love all of our flows and meditations this week. I've also added a new Hatha Yoga to our evening schedule for the rest of the month. On Tuesday evenings we will have a Hatha flow to help you release the stress from the day and slow down the body and mind to prepare for bed.

We are continuing our journey through the energy centers, the chakras. This week, we are focusing on the Sacral Chakra, which sits at the hips. Some believe that if we have tight hips, its our bodies way of asking us to loosen up a tight grip on life! This week we will help fix that!

Chakras are the seven energy centers that go down the center line of the body. When balanced, our chi, or life force energy flows properly through the body. When these centers become blocked, it can take a toll on our emotional and physical health.

The primary function of the Sacral Chakra is pleasure and overall enjoyment of life. When this chakra is balanced and functioning properly, we can expect our relationship with ourselves and the world to feel harmonious, pleasureful, and nurturing. It is also associated with the water element, and the water element is all about flow and flexibility!

What a gorgeous day today turned out to be!

I hope everyone was able to enjoy this wonderful sunny Sunday. It’s my pup’s favorite season, mud season, and we are about to head out for a hike in the trails by our house. How did you enjoy today?

I have a wonderful week of yoga classes planned this week. It’s our second week of our new schedule, I hope you are loving the class consistency as much as I am!

For the next couple of weeks we are going to take a journey through the chakras. We will begin with our Root Chakra.

What are the Chakras? The Chakras, in the ancient texts, are wheels, the spinning energy centres of the body, moving the energy through the body. Starting from the base of the spine, working up to the crown. These are the major chakras, there are many more smaller energy wheels in the body.

When the chakras are balanced, the energy, or prana can flow more freely. The body should feel more balanced and in tune. If the chakras are blocked, or imbalanced, the body may feel uneasy, and out of sorts, in these areas.

The Root Chakra is at the base of the spine and helps us feel grounded. It is the foundation, the grounding, the connection to the earth and the source of drawing energy up from the earth. This energy centre represents the most basic human needs for survival, the roots, it provides the stability, the building blocks for the other chakras, and the foundations for all asanas. It is usually associated with the colour red.

When we speak of being mindful, ask yourself if you are actually being mindful, or is it just that your mind IS full? Ask yourself if you are the person who has a mind full of thoughts, worries, fears, anticipation, task lists and to do lists? Or are you the person who notices appreciates, and enjoys your surroundings, focusing on your current activity?
-
Eckhart Tolle says, ‘The primary cause of unhappiness, is never the situation, but my thoughts about it.’ Our minds have a natural way of projecting our fears of past situations into our present just as our minds imagine a future that hasn’t happened yet. By living mindfully, we live in the present moment, we can slow down and can break our destructive thought cycle.
-
When your mind isn’t so selfishly wrapped up in your own thoughts, you create space for so much more empathy, compassion, kindness; when your mind is free of chatter and distraction, you have improved clarity and focus and therefore, productivity. With a calmer attitude, you can respond to situations rather than react by reframing your thoughts about a situation. This can be summed up by a wonderful quote by Baba Ram Dass: The quieter you become, the more you can hear. – Baba Ram Dass
-
Mindfulness is also an empowering tool in the self management of stress and anxiety by lowering both blood pressure and heart rate; it is key to restoring the parasympathetic state and switching off our stress hormone responses, lowering cortisol and adrenaline.
-
If you want to learn how to bring more MINDFULNESS into your daily life, I have a FREE PDF guide about how to be more mindful, less stressed, and maybe find some inner peace.
