Donating can truly help, holding onto everything rarely does.
Step 1: Start with ONE small category
Not a whole room.
Pick clothes, shoes, bathroom items, or kitchen tools.
Momentum beats motivation. ✨
⸻
Step 2: Take everything out
Yes—all of it!
Seeing the full amount creates clarity. Youre also then able to fully assess what all you have.
⸻
Step 3: Ask the 3 core questions
Hold each item and ask:
1. Do I use this regularly?
2. Would I buy this again today?
3. Does this support the life I’m living now—not the one I used to have?
If the answer is no to any → consider donating.
⸻
Step 4: Check fit, function, and feeling
Keep it only if:
• It fits your body or space right now
• It functions as intended
• It makes you feel comfortable or confident
Guilt is not a reason to keep something.
⸻
Step 5: Apply the “1-Year Rule” (with exceptions)
If you haven’t used it in 12 months, donate it—
unless it’s:
• Seasonal
• Sentimental
• A true emergency item
⸻
Step 6: Create 3 piles only
No maybes.
• Keep
• Donate
• Trash/Recycle
Maybes delay peace.
⸻
Step 7: Set a container limit
Your space decides the quantity—not emotions.
Example:
• Closet rod full? That’s the limit.
• One bin for memories? That’s it.
⸻
Step 8: Remove donations immediately
Put the donate bag in your car the same day.
Out of sight = real progress.
⸻
Step 9: Reset the space
Wipe surfaces.
Put items back intentionally—not out of habit.
This locks in the calm.
⸻
Step 10: Repeat monthly (short + gentle)
Decluttering is maintenance, not a one-time purge.
10–15 minutes is enough.
⸻
✨ REFRAME TO REMEMBER
• You are not throwing away value
• You are passing it forward
• Donating creates space—for your home and your mind
