How much are you feeding your pet? Did you know that most 'cups' contain more than one measuring cup's worth of food? We conducted an experiment at the clinic and found that a Solo cup holds roughly 140 more pieces than a 1-cup measuring cup. Are you unsure how much you're feeding your pet? Grab a measuring cup and see how it adds up!

Drum Roll Please..🥁

This week's post is- a is a calming cap, or as we like to call them, a happy hoodie. Calming caps help diminish anxiety by reducing visual stimulation, which is especially helpful with patients who get overstimulated by lights or movement in a veterinary setting. A happy hoodie can be worn with or without a muzzle (or peanut butter 😂). Do you think your pet could benefit from a happy hoodie? Feel free to ask for one at your next appointment!

Did you know that January 24th is National Change a Pet's Life Day?
In honor of this, we invite you to donate to Stop the Suffering Animal Rescue of Ohio on behalf of Poppy. Poppy is an 8 year old Golden Retriever who was rescued last March by this wonderful organization. Shortly after, Poppy was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect. Her prognosis was grim, and she was placed into hospice care. But Poppy had other plans. Now, almost a year later, Poppy has been not only surviving, but thriving with all of the love and medical care the rescue has given her.
However, Poppy developed complications after a routine spay surgery, and has now been hospitalized at MedVet. While her team is Optimistic about her recovery, she will need to stay hospitalized throughout her treatment to have the best chance of survival. This comes at a huge monetary cost, an estimated $6,000-9,000 for just her first few days there. Stop The Suffering runs entirely on donations alone, so we ask that anyone who is in the position do to so consider donating on Poppy's behalf. If you can't donate, please like, share, or comment to help this post be spread far and wide.

Our miracle girl, Poppy, could use another one 💗

Poppy came to us in March 2025, and almost immediately we learned she had a severe congenital heart defect. Her prognosis was grim, and she was placed into hospice care. But Poppy had other plans.

Over the following months, she defied every expectation. With the help of medication, she stabilized enough that veterinarians felt comfortable recommending she be spayed and made adoptable: something we never thought we’d get to say.

About a week into her recovery, Poppy became disinterested in food, though she otherwise seemed okay. Out of an abundance of caution, we had her examined, and our fears were confirmed: she is suspected to have a surgical complication called aspiration pneumonia.

Poppy is now at MedVet, where she’s receiving round-the-clock care including IV fluids, an NG tube, and other supportive treatments. Despite her heart condition, her veterinary team is optimistic about her prognosis but she needs to remain hospitalized to have a real chance at a full recovery.

Unfortunately, this level of care comes at a cost.
Estimated expenses for the next 24–48 hours: $6,000–$9,000.

Poppy finally got a glimpse of the sweet life. She’s a fighter, and we’re not ready to give up on her, not now, not when she’s come so far.

Donations accepted by Credit Card, PayPal, and ApplePay here: igfn.us/form/OV8jhg

Checks can be made payable to “Stop the Suffering,” mail to: Stop the Suffering, P.O. Box 21703, Columbus, OH 43221.

If you’re able to donate, share, or send some love her way, it would mean the world to Poppy and to us. Every bit helps give this miracle girl the chance she deserves.
