The Half-Da-Man Project This page is about my progression to lifelong health and total body wellness. I started this journey in August 2019 at 340 lbs in poor health. Come with me!

Thanks to time-restricted eating, extended fasting, and regular exercise! As I learn, you learn.

Whew! What a first official day of summer!

Up with the sun for a treadmill workout, then shot some hoops with The Boy. The spirit is willing but the knees are WEAK, y'all.

So I lost my glasses at the kids' dance recital last week, and I hadn't had an eye exam for a while, so I went to at for that. They were amazing!

But I got the eye drops, which made driving, um, fun the rest of the day.

And oh boy did I drive a lot!

Meeting with a friend from church to talk about eating , then took my 10yo out for a chipping and putting session. We made up a sort of match play, stroke play putting game to get her locked in for her next tournament on Wednesday.

Did I mention that she beat me? Again?? And got her first birdie? And came thisclose to getting her first ace?

Yeahhhh, she's ready.

So now I'm ready to collapse, but I have two weeks of laundry to get started.

Ahhhh, summer. Let's do it again tomorrow!!

Ran a virtual 8k thanks to tonight!

I think. My normally reliable WiFi did *this* three times during the race!

Made sure of it with my , though.

Looking forward to more virtual - and actual - races this summer!!

Worked out in my t-shirt to celebrate the three year anniversary of my trip to Denver with .

Personal best 5k, after a much needed day of rest. I wasn't going to work out today, either, but then I saw a great motivational post that shook me out of my stupor.

Most people give up right before they were supposed to break through! Today I'm committing to continuing to do hard things, even if I don't see immediate results. IOW, taking a farmer's approach to wellness.

Plant, water, feed, prune, and let nature take care of the rest!!

Today has been a DAY!! Was not really feeling the treadmill for the first half of my morning workout, but I kicked it into gear for the second half! Ended up sprinting faster and longer than I have in years.

Taught Day One of my test prep class all morning, too! The fastest four hours so far this summer. Fed off of the kids' enthusiasm all day!

Then golf with my 10yo daughter. I played hard, counted every stroke, and...she won, fair and square! Two putted from about 70 feet on the last hole to slam the door.

Lotta steps! I'm about ready to collapse, but this lesson isn't just going to write itself...

Outside work today! I finished a 5k at about an 11:30 mile pace, which isn't awful. Definitely could be better. I usually know about ten strides into a run whether I can test the stability of my hip flexors, and today was not a long striding sorta day!

I don't know if it's a mental thing or not, but the hills that normally give me a ton of trouble on this loop looked and felt like gentle inclines today. Funny what getting into shape will do for you!

Confession time: I wasn't going to posy photo today, because I thought *my shadow* made me look bad.

I mean, really? C'mon maaaaaaan!

I posted it anyway, because it's motivation for me to keep pursuing fitness and total health (which includes mental well-being for me too!!)

Getting ready for my test prep class on Monday and my kids' dance recital tonight. Should be a wonderful weekend!!

Day 20 - today's theme: don't stop!

Habits form between three and ten weeks. I'm just about there. Thinking about how to use this time of radical restriction as a springboard to health.

day 19. Never too old to learn about yourself!

Today is usually my day off, but since I have a busy weekend ahead I wanted to get in as many workouts as possible!

I think my body is used to having today off, because it was really hard to get on the treadmill this morning.

I mean, REALLY hard.

At one point I got on the thing, then got off and laid down on my basement floor! I told myself I was "stretching my back out," but I could have fallen asleep.

So I'm learning that I get better when I do something that I love, even when I don't love to do it. I know everyone probably already knows that, but I love seeing the fruits of my perseverance in real time. I'm getting stronger, faster, and healthier.

Looks like it's going to be a summer of goal setting and goal getting!!

, Day 11. Earning that day off!

No morning run today, by design. Since my son's soccer season ended I needed to get out and make that count.

And I set a personal record for the most pushups in a day! I think it had something to do with taking the previous day as a rest day from that upper body work.

Got that post-race swag from because of my treadmill 5k at Myrtle Beach. Had to show it off!!

Well on my way to hitting my weekly goals! But first, rest.

Day 3: Nice treadmill workout this morning! Hit a 9:21 first mile even without a whole lot of energy. Sub 9 is just around the corner!

Fruit salad to break the fast and another 15k steps!

Tomorrow marks the 90-day point until my [hurmph hurmph] birthday! What an ideal time for a radical reset.

I'm starting a 90-day raw vegan eating plan with my first meal tomorrow. I've got lots of fruit and veggies lined up, so watch out for photos!

Two days, two workouts. The morning grind is back in full effect.

Nearly three months left in my 46th year and I'm gonna finish this one STRONG!!

I mean, these goals aren't just gonna reach themselves, know what I mean?

Today I really needed to hear some on my run. "I Stay Away" had me feeling like I was 19 again, hearing for the first time.

This next 90 days is gonna be a lot of fun.

For the first time in my fitness life I ran a 5k with less than six weeks of lead time! No need for any sort of this time around.

I got an email from yesterday announcing a live race this morning from and I couldn't say no.

I mean, especially since I didn't run a single step when we went there in March, hahahaaaa

Loved seeing some of the places we walked and drove by on our spring break trip come up on the display.

And ran a nice pace too! Ran the full 3.11, which is a recent first. Normally I do two or 2.5 and then sprint intervals.

Lesson for me: if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready!
