World Mental Health Day is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness, promoting mental health education, and advocating against the stigma surrounding mental health.

At this year's Advocacy Forum, AFSP Volunteer Advocates will urge their local legislators to support the Improving Mental Health Access for Students Act, which will require colleges and universities to provide contact information for the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline on student identification cards, if not issued via websites/student portals.

In the U.S., 82% of people are not familiar with 988. Making it easy for students to find and share the 988 number will improve access to lifesaving crisis resources and destigmatize reaching out for help.
