Localized cryotherapy is the application of cryogenically cooled air to specific parts of the body. It can be used to alleviate pain, inflammation and speed up recovery from injuries through cryogenically cooled air penetrating deeper into the layers of the tissue and increasing blood circulation.
Localized cryotherapy, targeted to a specific muscle area or spasm is applied via a localized device for 3-5 minutes depending on the area. Vaporized liquid nitrogen at temps of approximately -225 degrees F is targeted at the area forcing your skin temp to stay within range of 25 degrees to 40 degrees F. Your skin temperature will drop rapidly without discomfort as our technicians are trained to measure skin temperature, watch the treated area for coloration changes, and interact with the client to ensure comfort during the treatment.
Almost any part of the body can be treated externally with the localized cryotherapy treatment. Some of the most common treated areas include the neck, upper back, lower back, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle and heel for plantar fasciitis.
