Hearing “bad news” once can feel final… but is it?

Dr. Vingan says he sees patients coming in all the time for a second opinion already scared, thinking there are no options left.

The first step isn’t rushing into treatment, it’s understanding the root cause of your problems. Then, we start building a personalized plan that’s clear and makes sense for you to back to your daily functions.

Surgeons are human first!

Dr Frankel tells us what the best part of his day is being a surgeon. For him, it’s family and how his patients feel on a daily basis.

Dr Frankel goes above and beyond his role by changing how patients think about their lifestyle prior to surgery. One thing that brings him joy is when patients tell him they feel exponentially better from his recommended small daily changes and how’s he positively changed their lives.

A testament to how we approach how we treat our patients at NJBS no matter the condition. Here, you’re in great hands.

Dr Schmaus says that he’s currently seeing more people for neck problems than ever due to the habits we’ve picked up during Covid.

Minor tweaks to how we position our phones, our body, or even posture makes all the difference in sustaining a longer term ailment or injury versus not.

For example, our heads weigh 14 pounds upright, but as soon as you hunch it over to look at your phone, that weight doubles, causing things like “tech neck” where you have that lingering pain in the lower neck.

Start with simple things like bringing the phone up to meet the level of your face, keep your head up and shoulders back, or even just moving more instead of being sedentary and you’ll notice a significant difference in how you feel.

Mirror Muscles aren’t the muscles that prevent injuries or discomfort like back pain.

Sure they’re nice to look at but what’s under the surface matters more — the foundation.

Dr Schmaus discusses how focusing on your “trunk” like back, shoulders, glutes, etc is the key to a stronger foundation on preventing injury. Not to mention it helps with things like posture and additional muscle growth for the mirror side.

Start incorporating exercises like seated rows, lat pull-downs, and reverse fly’s into your workout routine and you’ll start to feel and notice a big difference.

Your care doesn’t always have to be around surgery. It can start with the little day-to-day things for wellness and longevity.
