The forecast is calling for extreme heat over the next two days. Below is a list of locations for cooling centers and water and refreshing stations in downtown Hagerstown.

Please share so people know where to go to stay safe and hydrated. If you are able to provide an additional location that has a self-filling fountain or sink, please contact Reach of Washington County at 301-733-2371.

Heat Safety Tips:
🫗Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, and alcoholic drinks.
😎Stay Cool: Spend time in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible. Use fans, take cool showers, and avoid direct sunlight.
☀️Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade.
👕Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing. Use a wide-brimmed hat to protect yourself from the sun.
🏘Check on Others: Keep an eye on family members, friends, and neighbors, especially the elderly and those with chronic health conditions.
🚗Never Leave Anyone in a Vehicle: Never leave children, pets, or anyone else in a parked car, even for a short time.
🥵Know the Signs of Heat-Related Illnesses: Learn the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and seek immediate medical attention if needed.
