Ever feel like you need to communicate with someone but really don’t want to say what needs to be said? This is one of those communications.
What I am going to tell you is probably not news to those of you that have been in the office in the last couple of weeks but for the rest of our HealthWise family this will most likely be somewhat of a shock.
It is with a lot of joy, and some sadness, I am writing to let you know of my intention to retire. My last day of practice will be Friday May 20, 2022. Caring for you, my patients, has been the most rewarding part of my 40 year chiropractic career.
Now, I am excited to announce that Dr. Mike and Vicki will be joining Doctor Janette Daley at the award-winning Chiropractic Company of Franklin.
This means that as of May 23rd Dr. Mike and Vicki will be seeing patients in a new office located just 6 minutes away from our current location at: 10068 W Loomis Road, Franklin, WI 53132.
If this comes as a surprise, you are not alone. The timing for us was really quick as well, but when things come together or fit well you just have to move ahead, and that is what we are doing.
You probably have a few questions so let me see if I can answer a few that have been asked by the patients who have been in the office this past week:
Who is moving? Dr. Mike and Vicki are going to be moving to the new location and will start seeing patients there on the 23rd of May.
Will there be changes in the hours for appointments? Yes and no. There will only be a couple time changes, like opening at 8 instead of 9 AM. When you call you will be able to ask availability, as you have in the past.
Is the location close to our current location? Yes, it is only 6 minutes away. You will be receiving another within a week with all the details.
Will Dr. Mike be using the same techniques you did? Absolutely. He will even have a class four laser to use for those that desire/need laser therapy.
Are Dr. Mike and Vicki happy with the move? You will have to ask them, but they have both expressed enthusiasm for the newly remodeled facility and the great new team members they met in their initial interviews.
Can I use the same phone number to make appointments? Yes. calls to 414-529-4600 will go to the Chiropractic Company's call center but you can also book appointments online here!.
What will I (Dr. Bob) be doing? I am not “retiring” as most think about retiring, but simply changing focus. The Christian ministry in Africa (Burkina Faso) which has been my passion for thirty years will now become my primary focus. I have established a non-profit called, interestingly enough, HealthWise International. My vision for the future is a degree program which will include various levels of hands on healthcare proficiency and certification, leading to a doctorate in Chiropractic. (Most countries in West Africa have NO Chiropractors. In predominately agricultural developing countries the number one impoverishing health issue is debilitating neck and back pain. If they cannot work in the fields, they cannot provide for their families…and in fact, become a drain on the family finances.) When the Ministry of Health in Burkina Faso saw how Chiropractic care could be a great benefit to their people, they asked if I would start this program, training young people from Burkina to care for their own. So, that is what I will be doing with my time. Additionally, I plan to get a license to practice Chiropractic in Florida, where I will be living. Everywhere I go, I meet people who need care, and it is just in my nature to want to help them, so continuing to practice on a limited basis will help me stay sharp with practice techniques which will help me do better job teaching them in Africa.
We are hoping that this letter helps with some of the concerns that you may have thus making your transition smooth and effortless.
As for me, this is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. I appreciate the encouragement by many of you saying, “It is time.” and “We will be okay, and so will you.” (Jim Pepper - 40 year friend/patient and wise guy.) ;-)
