Join us for the Kick-Off Night of our She Is Mentoring Program on April 10th, from 7 PM to 10:30 PM! This is a great opportunity for 20 young ladies in grades 9-12 to connect and empower each other.

🌸 Woman History Spotlight: Latonya Hooks

My motivation is rooted in a beautiful balance of spiritual grounding and selfless purpose. By starting each day with morning prayer (conversation with God), I center my heart and gain the resilience needed to lead with faith. This way, it fuels my devotion to my family, who serve as my primary "why" and greatest source of joy. Ultimately, this strength flows outward into my desire to help and be a blessing to others, creating a meaningful life where my personal peace and deep connections drive me to make a positive impact on the world around me.
My passion for my work flows from the fact that it isn’t just a job, but a natural extension of my spiritual identity and personal values.
I have a Master's degree in Human Services counseling and Bachelor's degree in sociology. I am the Supervisor of Guest Services/volunteer services at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. I have been with Sentara for 25 years. I am a member of the peer support group (critical incident stress management), Advance Care Plan facilitator, and Ethic Consultant. My family dynamic includes my husband of 29 years, 8 adult children, and 15 grandchildren

I show up again and again for the “aha moment.” Whether it’s my 3rd grade students finally understanding how to compare fractions, my choir members learning the right note and dynamics, or my media team members figuring out a new way to troubleshoot, my calling is to teach and coach until it clicks.
