Blessed Beginnings Doula Service

Blessed Beginnings Doula Service Supporting growing families through the antepartum, birth and postpartum phases. My own experiences with my two boys were varied. How may I help you?

I learned a lot after my first son was born about the importance of getting support early and often in the first few months. As brand new parents, my husband and I did not get much support and our experience was hectic and nerve-racking. The arrival of our second son was a much more relaxed and soothing experience. My husband was deployed six weeks after the birth, but I was able to get the support I needed. With this support, I became empowered even more to care for my newborn and toddler on my own during that time. For my third child, I wanted a non-medicated birth. With the help of my husband, doula and midwife, I was able to have a “home birth” in the hospital. My daughter’s birth was so empowering that I just can’t wait to help others achieve their goals in their births. My vision for this business is to help make this precious time in your life less stressful and more pleasantly memorable.

"You do not need to be Superwoman to have a natural labor that you do not later (or during) associate with pain and suffering. Labor is not painful or fear-inducing; rather, labor is intense and requires a tremendous amount of physical and mental focus and energy." -Mayim Bialik, Beyond the Sling

The word "ruin" is a little harsh and pessimistic. These are procedures that are most often done out of habit and with no scientific backing. You have choices in all of these procedures. The first choice is in your provider or group with which he/she works. Bait and switch is very prevalent in typical OB practices. Do your homework and get a doula!

Birth should be an awesome thing with as much focus on making it as easy and safe for you as possible, and of course, as safe as possible for the baby...

Using a doula is something many moms don't consider, many times because they are operating under the misunderstanding of what a doula is and what a doula does. Have you heard these doula old wives tales?

"Doula" might be one of the funniest-sounding words out there (try saying it 10 times fast) -- but what one does to help mothers worldwide is no joke.

Another one. She would have made it through just fine, but her experience may have been different. THAT is the difference a doula makes!

"Ryanne, my doula, was a God-send! My husband was great, too, but don't think I would have made it through delivery without her!!!!!! Love you, Ryanne Kees!"

I just LOVE my 'job'!!!

"Thank you for being my doula!!! You were extremely helpful!!! I would not have been able to do that or stay calm without you! I loved that you whispered encouraging words, right as I was thinking "I can't do this". God has placed you in the right field! Thank you so much!" --from my most recent homebirth client

This is the NUMBER 1 reason that I see women give up breastfeeding and it is SO SAD!!! No, you are not running out of milk or drying up--you are just getting started!

It is normal for a mother’s breasts to begin to feel less full, soft, even empty, after the first 6-12 weeks.

Many mothers have concerns about milk supply after the early weeks because they notice a drop in pumped amounts or they notice that their breasts feel “soft” or “empty”.

Q: Why does my breastfed baby take at most 4 ounces (120 mL) from the bottle when my neighbor’s formula-fed baby takes 7 or 8 ounces (210-240 mL)? Am I doing something wrong?
