Today in class, I focused on teaching people how to read their dog when the wind is blowing more than 5 mph. This is where I feel teamwork really plays a critical role in whether you’ll be successful passing a test or not. Knowing how to keep yourself, oriented, walking in a straight line, reading your dog and watching your dog to know when they’re down wind of this article or downwind of the actual track and how to make sure you don’t miss turns or articles. It was a very successful day.

So proud of this team, Cedar and Rebecca finished his SWA title and SIA Element Title. Advanced Interior they were 8th out of 21 entries. She wrote, “I too k my time because I wanted to be sure. He showed me one of the hides, but I was slow to call it because I was concerned it was pooling odor. Poor guy showed me twice like hey..hey...you this IS really it!”

Trust the dog! Congratulations on a job well done. Great team really getting it on.

One of the things I teach all my students is to develop a relationship with their dog. I think these picture reveal that perfectly. It certainly showed in their excellent performance as a detection team. When the going gets rough or the dog gets unsure you’ll appreciate having that relationship. It will pull your team through.

I am taking students now for the 2026 for all levels of AKC tracking. Classes are 4 weeks meeting day/time is flexible to students availability and will be determined once students are enrolled.

I will also be doing certification tracks for those who feel they are ready.
