🎃👻 Halloween Safety Reminder 🕯️

Halloween is a fun time for children and families, and we want to remind everyone to stay safe while enjoying the evening.

✔️ Drive slowly and watch carefully for children crossing streets.
✔️ Choose bright or reflective costumes so kids can be seen.
✔️ Carry flashlights or glow sticks for extra visibility.
✔️ Stay on sidewalks and visit well-lit homes.
✔️ Check all treats before letting little ones enjoy them.

Let’s work together to keep this a safe and enjoyable night for all the children in our community. 🕊️

🌿 Dealing With Grief 🌿

Grief is not something that follows a straight path or a set timeline. It can feel heavy one day and lighter the next, only to resurface again when least expected. That’s because grief is love that has nowhere to go—and learning to live with that love in a new way takes time.

💙 Some gentle reminders for those walking through grief:

Be patient with yourself. Healing doesn’t follow a schedule.

Allow yourself to feel—whether it’s sadness, anger, or even laughter at cherished memories.

Lean on friends, family, or your faith for strength.

Don’t be afraid to accept help or reach out to others.

At Holt Memorial Chapel, we see every day how unique each grief journey truly is. Our promise is to walk alongside families not only in the moment of loss, but in the days and months that follow.

If you are grieving, know that you are not alone. ❤️

⚰️🌹 The Honor of Serving as a Pallbearer

Being asked to serve as a pallbearer is one of the greatest honors a family can bestow. This role carries with it both history and respect. Traditionally, pallbearers were those who literally carried the “pall” (the cloth that draped the casket), and today they continue that sacred responsibility of accompanying their loved one on their final journey.

If you’ve been asked to serve as a pallbearer at Holt Memorial Chapel, here’s what you can expect:

👔 What to Wear – Dress respectfully. Sometimes the family may request that everyone dress similarly, such as all wearing white shirts and jeans. Follow their wishes if given.
🕘 When to Arrive – Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. Upon entry, let one of our staff know you are a pallbearer.
🚗 Parking – When you arrive, our parking attendant will ask if you are going to the cemetery. Answer “yes,” and they will direct you to a place in the procession line.
🚪 Check-In – Enter through the front doors and find a funeral home employee. You’ll receive a fresh white carnation boutonniere, pinned on your lapel or shirt to designate you as a pallbearer. (Ministers wear red boutonnieres. Holt Memorial Chapel is the only funeral home in our area that honors pallbearers and ministers in this way, with flowers prepared by a local florist.)
📋 Instructions – Our staff will guide you on seating. Sometimes pallbearers sit in reserved seating; other times, especially when they are family members, they may sit with their loved ones until separated at the end of the service.
⚰️ At the Service – Before the service, the funeral director will line pallbearers up and es**rt them to their places. At the conclusion, you’ll gather behind the funeral coach, where the casket will be entrusted to your care for placement inside.
🚙 Procession – Pallbearers then return to their vehicles, headlights on bright and hazard lights flashing, to proceed to the cemetery.
🌿 At the Cemetery – Upon arrival, meet immediately behind the funeral coach. The funeral director will give instructions on how the casket is carried to the graveside. Pallbearers will line shoulder-to-shoulder at the tent’s edge in final honor.
🌸 Final Tribute – At the close of the committal service, pallbearers pass by the casket, placing their white carnations on top as a lasting gesture of love and respect.

This special touch is one more way Holt Memorial Chapel strives to go above and beyond in honoring every family we serve.
