At Holt Memorial Chapel, every family we serve receives a follow-up survey asking for honest feedback about their experience. We truly value these responses — they help us recognize what we’re doing well and identify ways to serve families even better.

❤️ We’re blessed to serve such wonderful families, and we invite you to read what they’ve shared about their experiences with us:

𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝟓 – “𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞”

Every family is different, and every loss is different. At 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒕 𝑴𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒍, we are always glad to help families explore options and guide them toward what feels best for them—even when that doesn’t involve our chapel directly.

We offer a variety of cremation and service options to meet different needs and preferences. Our belief is simple: 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆. A service, a gathering, or a moment set aside in honor of a loved one can make a lasting difference.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬

In recent years, funeral service in America has changed dramatically. More families are choosing direct cremation with no service, no gathering, and no time set aside to remember a life that has been lived.

While every family has the right to choose what is best for them, it’s worth pausing to consider what we may be losing along the way.

For generations, funerals and memorials have served an important purpose—not just to handle arrangements, but to honor the dead, support the living, and strengthen the fabric of our communities. These moments help us acknowledge loss, share stories, and remind one another that a life mattered.

When remembrance disappears entirely, grief often has nowhere to go. The absence of ritual doesn’t remove pain—it simply asks people to carry it alone.

At 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐥, we believe that honoring a life is important, whether that looks like a traditional funeral, a memorial service, a visitation, or a simple gathering of family and friends. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive—but it should be intentional.

Our role is not to pressure families, but to remind them that saying goodbye matters. Remembering matters. And caring for one another in times of loss is still one of the most meaningful things we do as a society.

𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝟒 – “𝐖𝐡𝐲 ‘𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠’ 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬”

We believe it is important to pause and acknowledge a life that has been lived. Grief doesn’t need formality, but it does need space.

Whether it’s a funeral service, a memorial after cremation, a visitation, a family gathering, or even a simple potluck at home, 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔. These moments allow stories to be shared, support to be felt, and healing to begin.

There is no single right way—only what is right for your family.

𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝟑 – “𝐈𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?”

𝐘𝐞𝐬, viewing is absolutely possible when cremation is chosen, and for many families, it is very meaningful.

𝑽𝒊𝒆𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏—it can help people accept the reality of a loss, say goodbye, and begin the grieving process. This can be done publicly, with embalming, or privately for immediate family members only.

When a body is not embalmed, viewing is limited to close family and usually occurs shortly after death. While embalming is not required by law except in special circumstances, it is our policy for public viewing.
