The desire to create, the vision, the heart to follow through was always there in Mom and Dad. In the infancy of their marriage as they carved their dreams, they came upon a beautiful, small apple town in Massachusetts… and dreamed some more. They purchased pieces of lots from long-time town residents and by moving stone walls from original locations, they outlined their new land; explored its trees and native bushes, glades and rock formations, often sparking talk of future dreams.
Over more than 40 years they tended to their four children, their growing number of grandchildren, and the garden areas that they envisioned, created, and shared. After Mom lost her battle with breast cancer, my father found healing through the creation of The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden. In an effort to preserve the calm beauty and serenity of the gardens I asked a friend with a wonderful photographic talent to capture the gardens through the seasons... then my brother and I began to compile art, talent, and poetry to create a photostory book. This book is mostly a concept in our heads... our hearts... but one that we hope to bring to others to share the gardens and Mom's heart.
