Mama, you are worthy of rest! As moms, our lives can get so full that it make seem like rest is almost impossible but let me tell you... You are only able to keep showing up for your loved ones and support them when you are rested and healthy too!

Your need for rest is valid and essential.

To preserve ourselves for the long haul and enjoy every step of the way, make time to rest!

Rest can mean taking time to go on the walk, sleeping in a few extra hours, or going out with your mama friends to be refreshed. There are so many amazing ways to find rest. Find what works best for you & commit to making it a priority ✨

What are some ways you find rest? Share + give some other moms ideas for what they can do to rest below!

✨Are you being intentional about your postpartum journey? ✨Here are some things to keep in mind after baby is born!

Many women end up scrolling for hours postpartum on their phones, I mean, what else is there to do right? We are up all day and night and we get bored, or anxious and restless and scrolling is a coping method that many of us lean on. But can I challenge you today?

Can I challenge you to not scroll? Literally, like put the phone down (don't worry we are not going anywhere, and nor is anyone else), and choose to only pick it up to connect via phone with close friends and family only.

It will be hard, but it will be one of the healthiest things you can do for your heart and your mind. You will have space to be. To watch your baby's chest rise and fall. To watch your partner sleep….. Haha. To breathe in moments that are slow, and uneventful. There is an amazing amount of depth to these moments, and I worry that we do not get to savor them anymore due to our endless scrolling habits.

Postpartum especially is a vulnerable time that needs to be protected and cherished. We can do that by remembering to:
🌿 breathe
🌿 hydrate
🌿 ask for help
🌿guard your mind
🌿 cherish your rest

Your postpartum journey isn't just about you and baby… It's about your partner too!✨

At times, caring for your partner can seem so taxing when you feel like you have already given so much of yourself. But in each of our journeys our partners play such a crucial role.
Taking little moments in each day to love and affirm your partner can make all the difference. Little things like, “ I really feel loved when you help me with the baby by doing….” or “ I really appreciate you rubbing my shoulders when I am nursing” let your partner know that you see them and love that they are a part of this journey with you.

These little affirmations can really encourage them along the way as they both partner together to do your best for your family! 💛

My active, busy mommas…. This tip is for YOU especially!

It is no secret that resting after having a baby is key. And immediately after having a baby that is for sure all you’ll be desperate to do. However, once you feel a bit better, you’ll have a lot of urges to clean or cook or tidy or go to the store or literally anything because you are over being cooped up!

But I encourage you to wait.

If you can try to give yourself at least 3 weeks and be cleared by your doctor before proceeding on with getting out and about.
I get it, you feel great, but sweet mama, soon you will be on the go and look back at this opportunity to rest and you will laugh at yourself for not soaking in the slow time.

🌿Grab an adult coloring book
🌿start a puzzle
🌿listen to audio books
🌿ask a good friend to come and keep you company!

But until then, fight the urge mama and embrace these slow days and long nights. Because soon enough you will be on the go for the long haul!

It is proven that mothers who are diligent about rest, recovery and healthy eating habits 40 days post birth experience more balanced hormones, mood, and reduce the likelihood of becoming worn down and depleted 2-4 years postpartum.

So it may feel like you are doing nothing, but really you are ensuring yourself and your family a healthy future, and that is worth everything.

You got this mama!

🌿 Doing an honest mental check in before, during and after pregnancy is so pivotal for your maternal mental wellness.

If you are aware that you have encountered anxiety or depression before you have given birth it is really important to seek out professional help to make sure you have the support you need prior to your postpartum journey.

This will be key for your partner, friends, and family to surround you in multiple layers of appropriate support as well!

Help does not make you weak, it makes you have the ability to THRIVE Postpartum. 🤍

🌿Creating an atmosphere of peace and joy is so key postpartum and often a last thought 🌿

I remember when I had my children I often felt so scattered postpartum, I would get to a chair or a rocker and realize that I had forgotten snacks, or water. Or I would wish that I had some music, or a diffuser, or slippers for my feet. I often needed a blanket or new burp cloth for the baby, or even a diaper and did not have anything, and so I would pace back and forth forgetting something every time.

As you heal you will often be in your bed, on the couch or in a rocking chair. Whenever you plan to be the most (maybe pick 3 main spots of rest and care) add some atmosphere. Add soft lighting ( I love salt lamps), a diffuser for a calming aroma, pictures and quotes that inspire you and a bowl of your favorite healthy snacks!

I suggest having some things for you there: books, magazines, journals, earbuds, refreshing face spray or essential oil rollers.

And some things for baby: Extra burp cloths, an extra blanket, some diapers and any breastfeeding implements that you like most ( I couldn't live without my Hakaa, homemade ni**le cream, and bamboo nursing pads)

Sounds simple but it's effective to keep you balanced emotionally and physically as you heal.

Having a baby grow inside of us is nothing short of a miracle. Our bodies change and grow so rapidly to create this new life within us! It is so powerful to witness and experience. It is a beautiful and challenging and exhausting task to create and care for a new life!

But what happens after that sweet baby is in our arms and not in our tummies? A newborn mother needs care and support and encouragement also!

What many do not realize is that we need tools to heal postpartum. Yes! Tools! We need our Tool Kit that will prepare us for anything that we will face Postpartum, and we need a plan for how to use those tools!

I remember being in my postpartum journey thinking that all I would do is take care of baby. Years later I began my journey of pinpointing what those needs were and how to meet those needs!

It took me 5 long years of connecting with Naturopathic doctors, pelvic floor specialists, Lactation Consultants, Midwives, Therapists and more to ensure that what I created would be the best information.

I wanted to put out all the answers to the secrets of postpartum and give mothers who take this online course a foothold to Thriving Postpartum.

I am so excited to be re-launching my ONLINE COURSE that is SPECIFICALLY for Postpartum Women.

Thrive Postpartum is better than even and now has a complete Pelvic Floor and Core Healing section that is AMAZING!

This course will give you everything you need to feel confident and equipped for navigating postpartum. You will be 100% ready and prepared to face postpartum healing with Grace and Grit!

Have you ever heard women talk about how they p*e themselves a little bit when they sneeze, jump on a trampoline or move around too quickly? 🙈

This is your body signalling you to slow down, pay attention, and to seek out professional help.

That is where Hilary with comes in! How to Thrive Postpartum’s Virtual Retreat will have the most amazing speaker, Hilary Valentine.
