What material would you choose for your wedding day, wood or acrylic?

Personally, I love working on acrylic signs because of how forgiving and chic it looks, but wood signs are definitely much more photogenic!

I recommend having the acrylic slightly painted or putting the acrylic against some greenery so your guests can see the message!

I met Ashley because I saw the amazing maternity photos she took of and fell absolutely in love with the way she captured everything and knew instantly that I wanted to work with her!

Mind you, I was 35 weeks when we took our maternity shoot I wasn’t feeling pretty at all. I felt heavy, gross, and uncomfortable, but Ashley made me feel so beautiful and confident! She made me glow!

As a mother herself, Ashley is a true inspiration proving that with hard work and perseverance, you can do it, you can have it all. She’s a badass!

I am so glad to have met her and I’ve become her hype girl and one of her biggest fan! Definitely check her out for your upcoming maternity shoot, elopement, and family photoshoot! She’s worth it! 📸💫

Tips on how to have a consistent ink flow! 👇🏽

1. You know your ink is too thick when there is little ink flow, like in this video!

Solution: Add drops of distilled water and mix until you have the consistency you want.

2. Your ink is too diluted when you make ink blobs whenever you press to write.

Solution: Add a little gum Arabic and mix until ink is a bit more thick.

3. If it’s not your ink, check your nib it might need some cleaning. I dip my nib in ink cleaner in between writing to remove ink build up and paper snagging.

4. You might need to change your nib if it’s old and rusty.

5. Try fixing your angle and try to keep your nib 45 degree from the paper!

Perks of participating in a style shoot!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Network with other vendors in your industry.
I've met so many people in the wedding industry during style shoots than I would have at actually weddings. For style shoots theres a lot of emails and interactions with all the vendors participating to talk about the mood and the set up of the style shoot. Also, networking leads to future collaborations, which leads to more clients!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Get professional photos of your work!
As a new mom-to-be, I won't have time styling flatlays or products shots, so joining style shoots is how I'll get professional photos of my work in a wedding setting. Also, professional photos attracts better social media engagement which could lead to future clients!

3. Learn from the experts before you.
Especially in the beginning phase of my business, I had no idea what to expect when working in the wedding industry. Style shoot preparations allowed me to observe how everyone interacted with one another and streamline their work to create a dream wedding. This made me a better vendor and calligrapher in the wedding community.

4. Get inspired to create more!
When you get the photos of the style shoot you get to see and feel how important, small or large, every vendor is to a wedding. It makes you want to create better products for your business, for other style shoots, or try out different wedding themes that could attract potential clients!

Slowly easing my way back into the grove of things but constantly reminding myself everyday to:⠀
⠀
•wear a mask, practice social distancing, and wash my hands because covid-19 is real and here to stay⠀
⠀
• educate myself and my love ones about racism and systematic inequality because black matter and it is time to free the oppressed together ⠀
⠀
• research, question, and critically think about the information I’m absorbing and set boundaries to keep my mental health in check⠀
⠀
It’s not easy trying to be a better person in a world that seems so terrible, but seeing other people rise through those struggles is inspiration and motivation to keep me going. ⠀
