Roxie has been having a rough few days since her chemo treatment. It’s definitely affecting her a little more this time than it has in the past, no major issues, no seizure activity or anything like that. She’s still eating. She’s still voiding. No vomiting, no diarrhea. I’m assuming she may be nauseous. She’s been fairly inactive, sleepy, but odd behavior again, sleeping by the front door rather than in her comfy bed, sleeping on a dirty Pee-Pee pad rather than in her bed…we have three comfy puppy beds that are available to her and she’s choosing these uncomfortable smelly places to lie, so just odd behavior, nothing super concerning, nothing that makes us feel like we need to bring her to the doctor, just that she’s probably having some side effects from the chemo this time more so than in the past. BUT…I had surgery last week and my dad had surgery yesterday. I went with my mom yesterday for my dad‘s surgery and as I was leaving the house, I was trying to unlock the front door. I didn’t have the strength in my left arm to unlock the door so instinctively, I tried to use my right hand, and I re-injured my surgically repaired arm, as well, I am having a sciatica flareup so I will be spending the day on the couch and Miss Roxie will be cuddled up with me all day, giving her plenty of time to recuperate!!! hoping for a better update for you tomorrow…

Oh almost forgot to mention that because of her positive bloodwork results we are able to push her visits from every three weeks to every four weeks, which is wonderful but still financially draining while we are still trying to catch up on the initial hospitalization so if you feel so inclined, please check out our go fund me. It is still open and still accepting donations. Every little bit helps. We are up to almost $25,000 in debt with Roxie‘s bills, but we do see a light at the end of the tunnel as far as her health goes and we are praying that we can get these bills paid off in a timely manner. Excellent news for Roxie!!! Her blood work came back and her red blood cell count was normal so we are able to discontinue one of her medications…down to 3 medications (multiple times a day) but we are moving in the right direction!!! 💗💗💗

Today was a pretty good day for Roxie. She had another follow up appointment. They did more bloodwork (we should have the results of those tomorrow) and she had her chemo treatment. She seems to do really well with the chemotherapy, it doesn’t seem to bother her too much, just makes her a little extra sleepy. They cut back her prednisone. She’s gained a pound, which is probably not good for a little tiny dog like her, it’s about a 20% increase, since she was initially admitted, so they would like us to cut back on the treats with the medicine; but that’s OK because she’s getting good at taking the meds. All and all it was a good appointment. Hopefully we get good news tomorrow with the blood work results!!! 💜

Roxie appears to be feeling so much better. She really seems like she’s back to herself. When she’s awake she’s very actively playing and very vocal, which has been nice to see. She’s still sleeping quite a bit, but I don’t think that’s abnormal for her, I think she was always a pretty good sleeper. She’s enjoying all this extra cuddle time with me, I’ve pretty much been on the couch since Friday, this recovery is a little more painful than I anticipated but nothing I can’t handle, I’m certain the outcome will be a positive one.

Hi friends! It’s me, Roxie 🐾💗 I wanted to pop on and say hello and let you know how Mommy and I have been doing.

It’s been a few days since Mommy or I have posted, so I wanted to check in. I think I’m doing okay. I’ve been really tired and a little shaky at times, but on the bright side, I’ve been enjoying lots of cuddles—and I’ve been barking quite a bit too. Callie and I are back to playing like we used to, and we’ve been sleeping cuddled up together in our bed again, which makes me very happy.

Mommy had a really busy week and just didn’t have time to post. She had lots of fun with the daycare kids—three full days of Valentine’s parties! She also had a regular checkup with her doctor, and then everything was leading up to her big surgery on Friday. Because of that, she couldn’t take some of her medication and was in a lot of pain most of the week. That was okay though, because I stayed close and cuddled her to help her feel better.

She tells me her surgery went well, and now she just needs to rest. She’s still in a lot of pain, so I have to stay away from her arms and just lay gently in her lap—but I still sneak kisses on her fingers that stick out of her cast. Those are my favorite 💕

She’ll be sleeping a lot this weekend, and so will I. We’re planning a whole weekend of cuddles with no other plans at all, and that sounds perfect to me. I’ll try to keep you posted on how we’re both doing.

Day 29

Hi everyone, its me Roxie 🐶💗🐾

Mom has been super busy and missed posting yesterday, she also missed today, so I decided to hop on and fill you in…
Today was one of those “in-between” days. Not bad, not amazing—just steady. I had moments where I was kind of shaky, I felt tired and alittle “spacey”. I think I might be having some difficulty seeing, Mom is going to mention it to my Dr, but I’m doing some silly things like sleeping on my pee-pee pad or on the front door mat instead of going down my ramp and sleeping in my bed. Mom thinks it might be something called “depth perception”, I dont know what that is, but I think she might be right, I never liked that step going into the living room but now I’m really not so sure about the ramp either, I can’t tell if it’s safe or not. I am learning that listening to my body is part of being brave, so I have been sleeping a lot, Mom say rest is good!!! Thank you for cheering me on, even on the sleepy, quiet days. 💜💜💜

Day 27 –

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, I went to my grandson’s first Karate Tournament…he did great… he participated in Kata where he received a medal 🏅 and he placed 4th and received a trophy 🏆 in Sparring 🥋, a wonderful accomplishment for his first Tournament!!! I’m so proud of him for overcoming his nervousness!!! 💙

Yesterday was an in-between day. Roxie wasn’t at her strongest, but she wasn’t at her weakest either. We’re taking it one moment at a time and listening closely to what she needs. We found she’s having more accidents than we realized; her neurologist said that that is very common while on steroids because they don’t feel the normal urge to urinate and by the time they finally feel the urge it’s too late, so I did a deep clean of the house, including of their bedding and all of their toys and then I gave them each bath Roxie and Callie looked adorable like two little cotton balls!!! One other issue we were having with Roxie yesterday, and seems to be lingering today as well, is that she seems to be afraid of the sunken living room. We have a small ramp for her, which she has mastered, but for whatever reason she is not wanting to go up or down it, she just stands at the top of the step to go down or the bottom of the step to go up and barks…so today I will be working on retraining her to use her ramp!!! I’m so grateful for all the love surrounding her. Roxie really does have the BEST cheerleaders on her side!!! 💗🐶🐾
