We're proud to share our team's impressive presence at the NACFC national conference in Seattle! The Poughkeepsie CF affiliate team led by Dr. Suzette Gjonaj received the Annual QI award 2024-2025, a testament to their outstanding work. Dr. Gjonaj delivered a captivating presentation at Physician Grand Rounds, showcasing a complex case of headaches in a patient with acute B cell lymphocytic lymphoma and cystic fibrosis. Dr. Shilpa Sood co-chaired a session on liver disease, highlighting our team's expertise. Congratulations to all on their remarkable achievements!

Yesterday we celebrated the retirement of our legendary Pediatric Pulmonologist, Dr. Suzette Gjonaj, one of the first fellows in our department. Dr. Gjonaj was the Director of the BCHP Cystic Fibrosis Affiliate Center in Poughkeepsie. She led Clinical Operations and QI at the Center with numerous presentations at the NACF meetings. She led the Pulmonary Clinic at Cedarwood for years. Her charisma, unique bond with her patients and colleagues, strong work ethic and dedication to her field are deeply appreciated. Congratulations, enjoy your retirement, we will miss you!

CEHCHV is very proud of the amazing presentation give by our MD/MPH practicum student, Trevor McHugh, at the 2025 AAP NCE conference in Denver, CO. Trevor’s project was selected for a poster presentation and featured a comprehensive evaluation of various social determinants of health in a large population of patients with food insecurity. Thanks to the AAP Council on Environmental Health for supporting our work and the opportunity for our trainee to present at the conference!

The sun shined bright and the lawn in front of Maria Fareri Children’s hospital was full of smiles. The first Fall Festival for families with cystic fibrosis was a tremendous success. The event was organized by the CF Family Advisory Board and led by Dr. Delariva-Velasco and Dr. John Welter. Families enjoyed the apple tasting, performances by talented musicians and dancers, massages and of course the ice cream truck! It was a day to relax. Special thanks to all the volunteers who made this event so special. Looking forward to more events in the future.

Today we celebrated the retirement of Dr. Diana Lowenthal, who has been a Pediatric Pulmonologist in our division for 33 amazing years. She has taught numerous fellows, residents and medical students throughout her career. She has made a difference in the lives of countless patients. We will miss her amazing talks, sage advice and her affable personality. Wishing her a wonderful retired life ❤️🩺⚕️⛳️🏝️

What a beautiful day to celebrate our 2 graduating outstanding senior fellows, Katie and Alfina. They will truly be missed, but will always remain a part of our division family. We wish them success in their future careers as pediatric pulmonologists. 🎓🫁🩺⚕️

Members of BCHP Pediatric Pulmonology (with some adorable family members) took part in the annual Lower Hudson Valley Great Strides walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis. It was a beautiful day to walk along side some of our patients and raise money for a wonderful cause.

Member of the Children’s Environmental Health Center of the Hudson Valley attended the NYSCHECK annual meeting. It was a day filled with learning, collaboration & networking with centers from throughout NY state.
