Fall Risk Reduction Program

Fall Risk Reduction Program Each year, one in every three adults age 65 and older falls. Fortunately, falls are a public health problem that is largely preventable. We need your support!

Spectrum’s Fall Risk Reduction Classes are designed as a preventative exercise therapy program, targeting seniors at risk of losing their independence due to injury and/or a fall. Falls can lead to moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures and head traumas, and can even increase the risk of early death. Spectrum’s Fall Prevention Program uses a multi-pronged approach to address the physical, behavioral and environmental factors that contribute to falls. The program employs strategies that 1) educate about fall prevention; 2) guide and refer for home safety modifications that can prevent falls; and 3) offer training to build strength, mobility, balance and fall prevention skills. This program gives older adults the place, time, support and tools to make life changes that lead to safer, more confident living with fewer falls. The Fall Risk Reduction Program depends on contributions from community organizations, businesses and individuals to sustain its FREE program for older adults.
