Wool sower gall 👀🌿

Also known as oak seed galls - They're created by cynipid gall wasps. These wasps are harmless, thankfully. The galls are a way to protect their larvae. Thankfully the galls aren't thought to be harmful to the trees. Usually they're found on white oaks in the spring.

Yall know I don't love snakes, but this was interesting. This was the first time seeing snake skin in water like this, but the way you could see the eyes 👀 🤯

Lyreleaf sage 🪻🌿

Out exploring today & the lyreleaf sage is in full bloom. It's part of the mint family. It's a beautiful perennial you may see along the road or in fields. I also see it along creeks in wooded areas. You may also hear the name cancer w**d associated with it. It was thought to cure cancer at one point.

Traditionally it's been used for colds, coughs, insomnia, & anxiety as well as cancer. People often dry it for tea.

Next year I'm hoping to get honeybees so I'm beginning the research process. I figured some of you may enjoy these fun facts like I did. ☘️🩷

Some fun honeybee facts:
🐝 They have 2 stomachs: 1 for food & 1 for storing nectar and processing honey
🐝 They taste through their feet
🐝 They navigate by using the sun like we use a compass
🐝 Queens can lay between 2-3k eggs a day
🐝 Worker bees can fly up to 20 mph when they're foraging
