For centuries, women have gathered to share wisdom and inner knowledge of their bodies.

Birth, s*x, menopause, the menstrual cycle - things that are considered taboo topics in our modern society - were woven into the framework of communities and this wisdom was held and kept by women.

In our modern day society, much of this knowledge has been outsourced to others - doctors, self-help books, and the modern medical system.

Many of us have become “body illiterate” - we’ve forgotten the tools and the practice of listening to and interpreting the messages of our body.

Our menstrual cycle is one of the key ways that our body talks to us.

Being able to observe and interpret our menstrual cycles clues us into the health of our overall body, gives us clear insight into how to balance our hormones, brings us into a closer relationship with our bodies, and allows us to take charge of our fertility to help us get pregnant faster OR avoid pregnancy.

Our menstrual cycles offer us a monthly report card of our health.

Every cell in our body has receptors for the s*x hormones that are produced via our menstrual cycles, meaning that the health of our mensutal cycles directly affects EVERYTHING in our body, from the health of our heart and our bone density, to our moods and brain health.

It is so important to be able to interpret our menstrual cycles that the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology declared that the menstrual cycle should be considered the 5th vital sign.

This means that health professionals should not only assess blood pressure, temperature, respiration rate, and heart rate as the key markers of health in our bodies, BUT should also be assessing the menstrual cycle.

However, when was the last time a doctor asked you about your menstrual cycle?

Or if they did, did you have the ability to provide them with information on the length of your cycles, your period health, the length of your fertile window, rate of confirmed ovulations, cervical fluid observations, or the balance of your hormones in your cycle?

The art and practice of tracking our cycles with fertility awareness-based methods offer us this insight that we can use to optimize our health, balance our hormones, and take charge of our fertility.

Cycle tracking with fertility awareness-based methods is a vital self-care and healthcare practice that every menstruating person should know how to do. It is a practice we should be passing onto our daughters and granddaughters.

It’s time to put this time-honored practice of cycle tracking back into the hands of women everywhere!

Join us for this 4 week deep dive into how to track and interpret our menstrual cycles beginning this May!

Weekly training videos will offer foundational step-by-step guidance into the practice of cycle tracking. Weekly gatherings via Zoom will allow us the chance to share insights, ask questions, and practice our skills together. It will be a fun journey of self-discovery, community, and empowerment!

The graphic says it all!
This was one of the BIGGEST truth bombs that led me to exploring pelvic health as a new grad working in an OP ortho clinic. I had been sensing a hole in my knowledge and clinical skills as a PT, but I was unsure what I was missing.
I had grown up in the world of Physical Therapy. My mom was a Sports/Ortho PT who owned her own clinic and my little brother and I essentially grew up in her clinic. I was also a certified athletic trainer and had worked with athletes extensively. I had great PT mentors and had had wonderful clinical rotations. I was confident in my skills. BUT yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was missing something vital…
I later learned that I WAS missing vital knowledge and clinical skills needed to be a true expert in human movement and provide my patients with the very best care. What I was missing was an understanding of where movement originates from, how to support and train healthy movement patterns, and how the body holistically works together. What I was missing was education in Pelvic Health!
Filling in my Pelvic Health knowledge gap completely changed the way I treat patients. It opened up doors for me to start my own mobile practice 5 years ago and to build out my own clinic last year. It has united me with rockstar clinicians and inspiring students. It saved me from burnout and gave me pure JOY in the pursuit of my passions and creativity.
Pelvic Health completely transformed my life and filled in the holes I felt as a PT. Maybe it’s what you are missing on your PT journey too!
If you are curious how Pelvic Health can change your life and career, there is no better way to assuage your curiosity than by being a part of The Pelvic Health Kickstarter Academy! The PHK includes EVERYTHING I wished I would have learned in PT school about pelvic health. Plus it has built-in 1:1 mentorship, community, and networking opportunities to make sure you feel fully supported on your path of exploration!

✨Learning how to center, or ground, yourself is one of the greatest skills you can cultivate as a PHPT! When you are are able to be still, quiet your energy, and be fully present with your client, you are able to hold a safe space for them to open up and feel seen and heard. When a client finds Pelvic PT, it may be the first time that they feel comfortable to talk about their experience - learning to hold space for clients allows them to feel safe to share.
✨Understanding that every body is unique and will respond to interventions in different ways. Just like in yoga where pose modifications are offered so that every body has a chance to find the expression of the pose that they need or that aligns best with there body, PHPTs need to be able to offer different interventions and strategies to see what the client's body resonates best with when working towards a goal. For example, there are TONS of different ways to downtrain the pelvic floor muscles (aka get them to relax and release), but the art of being a Pelvic Health PT is finding the way that the patient's body resonates with the MOST! This is why a kegel chair, or cut and dry pelvic health protocols, will never overtake the brilliance of having a skilled Pelvic Health PT on a client's team!
✨Realizing how powerful it is to help someone connect with their bodies and cultivate inner awareness. "Yoga" literally means "yoking body, mind, and spirit." Within my Pelvic Health Practice, the very first thing I teach my patients is how to better connect with their Pelvic Floors. It's almost impossible to impact a muscle if you have no awareness of it! And that is why bringing awareness to the pelvic floor through breathing ("where your breath flows, there your attention goes"), visualization, showing patients pictures and models, and encouraging some self-exploration can be huge keys to successful Pelvic Health rehab!
⬇️ Do you practice yoga? What are some things you have learned through your practice, that have made you (or will make you) a great PT? Comment below!

Upcoming Course Alert!
Over the past few months, I have been conducting research with a local lactation counselor, Ronee Welch, to see if taping techniques would work to both improve a breastfeeding parents overall milk supply, as well as help with an improved milk ejection reflex (MER). We are excited to report that all the parents in the study saw at least some improvement in one or both of those areas (see study results in the link in my bio!)
Taping can be a great tool to help increase milk supply and decrease the need for formula supplementation, but there is so much more that can be offered to breastfeeding parents that is sadly NOT accessible in our country!
With the current formula shortage, Ronee and I have teamed up to create virtual programming to work 1:1 with breastfeeding parents across the country to help them increase their supply and rely less on formula supplementation to feed their babies. We have been able to help countless parents and babies thrive!
As our program has gained momentum, PTs, OTs, and IBCLCs have reached out to us to teach them the skills he have been utilizing to help parents in our program. I’m excited to announce that Ronee and I have decided to host a course to teach as many clinicians as we can about the techniques we have honed so that EVERY breastfeeding parent can find support!
We are currently planning course modules and seeking CEU and L-CERP approval, with the plan that the course will be able to be offered this Winter!
If you would like to be the first in the know when the course is ready, follow the link in my bio to join the waitlist!
We are excited to offer this course to the world soon and would love to partner with you to make these skills accessible to every clinician who works with breastfeeding parents!

I’ll be hosting Virtual Pelvic Health PT Observation Hours on May 22 @ 8pm EST and you are personally invited!
Many students have been contacting me recently regarding the difficulty they are experiencing acquiring diverse observation hours to apply to PT school. To help, I’ll be hosting an event to help students earn 1.5 observation hours in pelvic health that they can submit to PTCAS.
The event will include a live case study that will guide students through how to think clinically and make patient care decisions like a pelvic health PT. At the end of the event, students in attendance will receive a form that includes their recorded hours that they can submit to PTCAS and/or directly to PT schools for credit.
The case study we will be working through is one of my absolute favorites! It’s an ortho-pelvic health case involving a 37 y/o woman who had been experiencing knee, hip, shoulder, and neck pain for decades. The case details how pelvic health techniques are vital for traditional orthopedic patients and can help them find healing. Spoiler: the patient in question was completely pain-free after 3 sessions! This is a great case study for any students who are curious about the role of Pelvic Health in OP orthopedic clinics!
To save your seat, simply DM me for the link or find it in my stories! I’m looking forward to seeing you on May 22 @ 8pm EST :)

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙏 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚?
I get asked this question A LOT from students and clinicians, alike!
And while it is a very good question, I’ve found that often times this question stems from a place of self-doubt and imposter syndrome.
Often the true, underlining question that is being asked is, “What courses, certifications, and trainings should I do to feel better about myself, to feel like a more confident and competent clinician, to quiet the voice of self-doubt that I don’t know enough or am good enough.”
The truth is, if you are looking for courses to explore your passions and better treat your patients, there are MANY that I would recommend! BUT if you’re on the search for courses to fill a void that you are feeling based on your feelings of self-worth as a person and a clinician, there isn’t a course in existence (nor will there ever be) that upon completing will silence the voice of imposter syndrome and transform you into a calm, cool, and confident clinician. There is no fast tracking the inner work that is necessary to diving deep into who you are and building confidence and groundedness at the center of your being, asking the tough questions about life purpose and aligning your life with your calling, and discovering your own brand of delivering PT to those you care about deeply!
The inner work is yours to do and it is SO vital! It’s impossible to guide someone on a path that you have not traversed first. To lead your clients towards wellness and radical lifestyle transformation, you need to be well and be transformed. To guide your clients on a path of regaining parasympathetic control and mindfulness in their lives so they can conquer chronic pain and dysfunction, you need to be centered and grounded with a balanced nervous system.
Once you know who you are and feel aligned with your life mission, taking courses becomes FUN! My advice is to take courses based on your passions/interests, and also choose courses based on what your patients need. If your patients need a bike fitter and you have an interest in bike fit…take a course! Become the clinician your patients need you to be to thrive!

I told a friend lately that I’m so excited to turn 30 in 2 weeks, because I feel like I’m entering this new decade of my life knowing exactly who I am, what I want, and how I want to move throughout the world.
Nature has always been one of my greatest teachers and looking back, I realize that the rivers of Tennessee and North Carolina offered me some of the most profound lessons that fostered my mindset about how I desired to move through the world.
Fun fact: I used to be a southern girl. In fact, Chattanooga TN is where I first left cooperate PT for good and started my concierge pelvic health PT practice. While in Chatt, I became really involved with the whitewater kayaking community. My roommate, Melody, put it plainly when we met - “If you’re gonna hang with us this summer, we need to get you a boat!” Together we found my boat and Melody began teaching me how to read the river, how to pick your line, and then how to attack that line head on. If you hesitated, stopped paddling, or lost track of your line…the river would take your boat and you’d be swimming the rest of the rapid and need a rescue.
The big test at the end of the summer was to run the class 4 waterfall on the Nantahala River in NC (the last rapid on a 2 hr river adventure). The first time I encountered this rapid, I was too scared to run it. I took my boat out before the rapid and watched other paddlers take it on. Some made it through with cries of exhilaration, some took a swim.
I remember in that moment asking myself what kind of person I wanted to be: the kind of person who picks her path and follows through with passion and enthusiasm, or the kind of person who sits on the sidelines of life. I made my decision and ran the rapid. I picked my line, I pointed my boat at the target, and I paddled like hell. When I emerged from the waterfall, I was exuberant and my heart was bursting at the seams. In that moment something switched within me and I decided to start living my life like I lived it on the river: I’d pick my line, lead with my heart, and go for it! And if I took a swim, I’d get back in my boat and run the line again with just as much enthusiasm as the first attempt. 🛶 🌊
