We're back with another Intro to Yoga Series! Curious about trying yoga? Familiar, but looking to deepen your knowledge and existing practice?
Explore the basic principles and foundations of yoga with our Introduction to Yoga Series!
Carefully constructed for both new and experienced yogis, this 4-week series will provide tools for beginners looking to develop a yoga practice, and integrative insights for those with an already established practice.
You will learn:
The most common yoga poses.
How to practice yoga poses safely and comfortably in your body.
How and when to modify your practice using props for healthy alignment.
Transitioning between poses.
How to coordinate breath with movement.
Yoga fundamentals: benefits of the practice, basic history and philosophy, simple breathing and meditation techniques.
A sample of various styles of yoga.
Each session will include a brief lecture and discussion about yoga, followed by a slow and gentle yoga practice under the supportive guidance of an experienced instructor.
Classes in this series will be led on a yoga mat and require comfort with getting up and down from the floor, as well as placing moderate weight on wrists, shoulders, and knees. Props will be provided. Please bring your own mat.
