April is Youth Sports Safety Month. There are several measures that can be taken to provide a safe sports environment.
- Encourage a pre-participation physical exam yearly
- Warm up properly prior to activity
- Cool down properly after activity
- Use proper training and equipment
- Wear proper fitting sports equipment
- Increase training gradually
- Drink enough water
- Rest and take breaks
