Reboot Juice Cleanse Find recipes and facts about the health benefits of juicing! Watch the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly

My sisters Angel, Christy and I (Melissa) did a juice cleanse for 30 days in October of 2011, juicing only whole fruits and vegetables for the first 15 days, and gradually adding only solid fruits, vegetables and nuts for the following 15. The results were numerous: better sleep, more energy, prettier skin, incredible weight loss, and a lot of other neat stuff! I thought it would be great to have a page to keep all of us connected that are in the middle of a juice fast, or those who might want more information, and a place to share some of the amazing recipes we came up with. :-)

Starting another juice fast today! Maybe 5 days or more, just to cleanse from being on business trips for 2 months and to get ready for Summer!

I always start with the "Green Juice" recipe on day one. Even only substituting this juice for Breakfast for a few days makes me feel great!

GREEN JUICE

2 Celery Stalks
A huge handful of Kale
1/2 Cucumber
1/2 Lemon
1 Apple
1 Pear

Day 5: PEACH MANGO!

Tonight, Angel and I were thinking WAY too much about brownies and a whole lot less about getting healthy, so I went to Harris Teeter and saw that Mangos were on sale, bought one for each of us and made THIS:

1 Mango (the whole thing, cut as close as possible to the pit)
1 Peach
1 Apple
1 Kiwi

Yeah, so this was pretty much dessert!

Day 4: MORE CINNAMON SPICE!

So, my younger sister, Christy gave me an inspiration today and told me she added both cinnamon AND nutmeg to the recipe I posted yesterday! I thought that sounded brilliant, so I juiced this:

5 Carrots
1 Fuji Apple
1 Pear
1 Beet
Ginger Root
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Nutmeg

I really like Ginger, Cinnamon and Nutmeg, so if you wanted to put less than I did, it would be more subtle. :-)

Day 4... Bring it

10/10/2011

I made 32oz of GREEN JUICE to take to work with me today, but this time I added beets and kiwi! Day 3 seems a lot better than 1 and 2. I actually slept THROUGH THE NIGHT last night (which I have not done in years). Do you think it is due to the juicing??

Read this!

"Kale is an especially nutrient-dense vegetable with many potent micronutrients. Rich and abundant in CALCIUM, LUTEIN, IRON, and vitamins A, C, and K.

Kale has SEVEN TIMES THE BETA-CAROTENE OF BROCCOLI and TEN TIMES MORE LUTEIN, another potent carotene.

Kale is part of the cruciferous vegetable family, making it a good source of the phytonutrient indole-3-carbinol (a.k.a. "I3C"). Research shows I3C has many ANTI-CANCER ACTIONS, such as promoting estrogen ratios in the blood that are weak, but needed to DISCOURAGE BREAST CANCER TUMOR GROWTH. Crucifers are also potent detoxifiers."
