Happy Valentine’s Day to my one and only❤️. Some days are long and mundane, but there’s nobody I’d rather do this life with. Here’s to many more laughs, Saturday soccer games, trips to Old Edwards, snuggles with the Scoop, adventures with the kiddos and being complete dorks together❤️. You always have and will be my person🥰. I love you to the moon and back, 😘!

22 miles to start this , with a little (well, maybe a lot😅) help from some friends 🎉🙌🏻! The caffeinated , and extra coffee helped me out too💦☕️. Feels good to have that one under my belt😁. Feeling pretty good about my fitness right now…let’s just hope it stays that way😂🙏🏻!

One topic of conversation this morning was post-run fueling…something I’m honestly not the best at😬. After a long run or hard effort, I’m just not hungry. Anyone else like this? The best way for me to get that nutrition in is by making a protein shake👉🏼protein powder, almond milk, coconut water, a banana and almond butter. That way I know I’m getting the protein to repair micro tears, replacing electrolytes that have been lost through my sweat (which I do A LOT🥴), and getting those carbs in to replace my glycogen stores.

Not getting nutrition in within about an hour of finishing a long run/workout can cause injuries and hurt your performance🥴. As hard as it is, I really try to remember this. Post-run recovery is JUST as important (if not more) as any other part of your training.

Who else struggles with this? What are your favorite post-run foods?

Beginner Running 101🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻

I talk to a lot of folks who want to run but they simply don’t know how to start. It can be intimidating and confusing to start from scratch🥴. Here are some things to consider when starting a run program as a beginner👉🏼:
🏃🏼‍♀️Set an attainable goal. Keep the distance short (think 5k) and find a fun race that makes you excited. A color run or charity run would be great place to start!
🏃🏻Start with a run/walk plan. There are plenty of great resources online! Build your mileage slowly and be patient with yourself! Consistency and following a proper plan is key.
🏃🏼‍♀️Accountability is everything🙌🏻. Find some friends with the same goal. Join a local run group and make it fun!
🏃🏻Keep a journal. This is so helpful in understanding your how your body reacts to certain temps, what foods you can handle before your runs, how stress effects your runs, etc. We are all individual in how we respond to different variables when training. It’s important to keep a track of these things if you want the best outcome in attaining a certain goal!
🏃🏼‍♀️Hire a coach!! I can’t say this enough…I’m a run coach that has a run coach😅🤷🏼‍♀️! Best decision I’ve ever made. Coaches take the guess work out, encourage you, and put you in your place when you need it😅. Sometimes coaching ourselves and being responsible for our own training can lead to burnout, overtraining and unrealistic expectations.

Have you thought about running your first 5k, but don’t know where to start? For this , I’m giving away a free personalized 5k training plan to one lucky winner🎉🍀! Tag all your friends who would love a kickstart to their running🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️👇🏼. Extra entries counted if you post on your story💜!! Giveaway ends next Monday, Feb 7th🎉! Good luck!

Stepping out for a run in 30 degree temps makes me want to turn right back around and curl up with a cup of coffee instead☕️🥴. Y’all feel me🤣?!

We do have to remember though that there is no such thing as bad weather, just incorrect gear/tips🤷🏼‍♀️. The 🔑 is 1️⃣wearing the right running gear 2️⃣utilizing proper use of running accessories 3️⃣paying attention to your personal assessment in how your body acclimates to cold.

Here are some winter running tips that help get me out the door, keep me warm and motivated too😄👇🏼:

🥶 Keep your extremities protected from the cold and wind- they will be the most sensitive in frigid temps. Keep your ears protected with an ear warmer, your hands covered with gloves (and maybe even hand warmers) and wicking thick socks for your feet🧤.
🥶 Keep your core warm and go lighter on the sleeves and leg wear. I like wearing a light long sleeve, vest and running tights on cold runs. Also- better to layer and have a place to drop clothes than to not have enough clothing when you start🥴.
🥶Choose wind resistant and wicking material. There’s nothing worse than sweating and not having the proper material to pull the wet away from your skin😝. Wet clothing and cold is a no go🙅🏼‍♀️.
🥶Get out of that sweaty run gear ASAP! Bring a change of clothes if having coffee with friends afterwards. I always have a change of clothes with me in my car in the winter if I know I want to enjoy time with my girls🎉💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼.
🥶Remember how awful super hot runs can be🥵😩! These are the times we sn**ch up those PRs. Soak it in and take advantage! Before we know it, we’ll be complaining about the heat and wishing for the cold🤣.

Do you prefer summer or winter running☀️❄️???

Family meals at our house can be such a hassle sometimes😅. 5 people with 5 different likes/dislikes. Making healthy meals that everyone loves and enjoys can be very few and far between🥴. Y’all feel me?!

I’m excited to have a fridge full of assorted all natural, fresh foods from that are ready to eat💚. They’re super easy to order and have delivered (16 Southeast states!) or pick up in one of their 16 stores located in Fl + GA.

What I love about these meals is that you can choose low carb, dairy free, gluten free and/or plant based options🙌🏻. If you are doing a macro plan, this takes the guess work out😉. Such an easy way to eat healthy and prepare quickly too!

I had the chicken enchiladas with cauliflower rice yesterday and the Bahn Mi Bowl today…swipe left to see a pic and the nutrition breakdown! Both were sooo tasty, ya’ll 😋. I’m looking forward to the French toast and chicken bacon after my long run tomorrow. I’ll be posting more of this goodness on my stories, so be on the lookout 👀 !

Oh, and there’s 50+ meals to choose from too🎉!

“I think goals should never be easy, they should force you to work, even if they are uncomfortable at the time.”
~Michael Phelps

Getting comfortable being uncomfortable is not fun at times and can be so dang hard🥴. Like me signing up for a local 5k a few weeks ago🤣😅. I’ll be honest- I HATE a 5k. They aren’t my jam, I always want to puke at the end and I’m just not great at them😝🤷🏼‍♀️. BUT, I decided that this is my year and time to start doing some uncomfortable, not so easy things. Hey- I might even start to like the darn things if I do them enough😜!

I squeezed in The Downtown News 5k race into my to see what I could put out. No- I didn’t PR, I didn’t win any overall awards but I stepped out of my comfort zone and I did it🤩. Honestly, for the first time in a long time, I didn’t care what anyone thought of my time (because they really don’t😂🤷🏼‍♀️). I was genuinely excited to see what I was capable of. I love that I’m trusting my fitness (and not scared of what I might not do), for the first time in a long time💜. It’s liberating and fuels my fire for more races to come. Sure, my finish time of a 20:02 made me a first place masters winner (👵🏼🤣), but I’m more proud of my attitude and mind shift🙏🏻.

What are some aspects of your life that you feel that you’ve gotten too comfortable? How can you challenge that to better yourself?

TᖇEᗩᗪᗰIᒪᒪ ᖇᑌᑎᑎIᑎG....ya either love it or hate it🤷🏼‍♀️. Am I right?!

To be honest, I’d much rather be outside logging miles, but I’m really thankful I’ve got another option when I need it. There are definitely pros and cons to treadmill running⚖️. Here are some to consider👉🏼:

PROS🙌🏻:
✔️when the weather is dicey, you’re still able to get your runs in.
✔️if you have a nagging injury or are feeling sore, the treadmill can provide some relief. It can honestly be kinder to your joints.
✔️you can control your workouts with whatever pace you are aiming for.
✔️with kiddos, the treadmill can save your life😅. It’s so convenient when you don’t have childcare and need to get those miles in.

Cons👎🏻:
🔘treadmill running doesn’t always work the same muscle groups as much as outside running- especially the glutes and hamstrings.
🔘it can just be downright boring🥴. I guess that’s why they call it the hamster wheel 🐹!
🔘you lose the agility and balance aspect of running.
🔘it doesn’t simulate race day conditions- weather for example!

How do you feel about treadmill running? Do you skip runs, get out in all the elements to avoid the treadmill or do you use it as a tool to get those miles in?

It’s and this cold weather has me flashin’ back to this amazing place where the water was clear, the tropical drinks were flowing and I had a nice suntan😅🎉! Do y’all prefer the warm or cold weather???

Getting ready to head out for my 2nd 20 miler on this cold day🥶….I’ve got my music loaded, some good company to join, my gels and 🙌🏻. I got this, right😅🤣?! Always thankful for this body that allows me to do this🙏🏻.

This is how this crew feels about the wkend right around the corner🙌🏻😅! It’s been a long week of elearning😩👎🏻, dealing with the snow (thank goodness we aren’t getting anymore tomorrow🎉) and some of us getting out of Covid jail 🦠🙄! My kids have eaten us out of house and home, we’ve run the dishwasher and washing machine a million times, and our house looks like a bomb went off🥴🤦🏼‍♀️. Time to get back to regular programming🤣📺.

Despite all the hiccups this week, I did get all of my runs/workouts in- even when I didn’t feel like it😅. Progress happens when you’re consistent. You won’t always be excited or motivated for that speed session or long run, but being disciplined is the key foundation in getting closer to that goal👊🏻. How do you push through those times where you feel unmotivated??

How is everyone holding up in ?? How about you parents😵‍💫?! Ready to let your kid’s teachers take over again🤣?! Fun fact: I have an education degree and taught school, but teaching my own is a nightmare🧟‍♀️🤣🤦🏼‍♀️.

We’ve all heard the story of that friend who looked and acted so healthy and had a surprising health diagnosis that changed their life🤷🏼‍♀️.

Do you know how healthy you actually are?
It’s so much more than your weight, race times, and how your clothes fit.
I treated myself to for Christmas🎁.
I’ve got some big scary goals and optimizing my performance can only happen if I know exactly where I stand.

Inside tracker measures 13 bio markers, and all but 2 of mine were within a normal range. My ferritin and magnesium levels were low, which surprised me😳. I take an iron-based vitamin daily and eat lots of veggies🤷🏼‍♀️. But, the results come with food and supplement suggestions and I can’t wait to see how these changes will affect my training, racing performance and overall health!

I was happy to see my inner age was 5 years younger than my real age (making a girl feel good🤣💁🏼‍♀️).

It no longer has to be a mystery whether you’re taking the right supplements for your unique make-up. So many of us spend a lot of money on the products we use that are intended to make us feel better, but what if we’re not even using the right products?

If you want to live longer, smarter, stronger and feel your best, give a try👀.

Have you tried Inside Tracker? Were you surprised by your results?

It’s time⌚️. Time to take ahold of our health and do right by our body. We are being hit hard by nasty viruses, colds and other illnesses right now🥴🦠. The best way to set ourselves up to prevent or shorten the duration of all these things going around, is to build up that immune system💪🏻- so when we come into contact with the flu or anything else, our body will be a strong force to combat it👊🏻. Finding ways to build a solid and healthy foundation is key for staying well💜.

Here are some things that I’ve been doing to strengthen me and my family’s immune system:
🍊Vitamin C! We get this through our , fruits, and supplements ( I take Lypo -Spheric vit C every day- not the best tasting, but you get used to it😅). Vit C is great for boosting your immune system and helps you absorb iron too (which is a must for us runner peeps!).
😴Sleep/Rest! Our bodies recharge and recover when we get the proper amount of quality sleep each night. As we sleep, our bodies slow down which allows us to recover properly. The melatonin we produce help combat the inflammation and counteract stress our body may be dealing with during waking hours- hints anything invading our system.
🧘🏼‍♀️Exercise! Moving our body and getting moderate exercise (30 mins - day or so) is key in raising our white blood cells, which help fight off infection. Getting outside in the fresh air for exercise is a bonus too- it helps to raise our vitamin D levels and is good for our mental health!
💦Hydration! Staying hydrated helps your ensures that things you are absorbing nutrients and keeping everything fluid in your body. Limiting alcohol is a good idea too.
👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏼Stay connected! Speaking of mental health, making sure we have friends/family to spend time with and communicate with us is so important for our overall wellbeing. Depression and anxiety can certainly do damage to our physical health!

How is everyone holding out these days with all the germies looming around🥴?! What are some things that you depend on to boost that immune system???
