“I think goals should never be easy, they should force you to work, even if they are uncomfortable at the time.”
~Michael Phelps
Getting comfortable being uncomfortable is not fun at times and can be so dang hard🥴. Like me signing up for a local 5k a few weeks ago🤣😅. I’ll be honest- I HATE a 5k. They aren’t my jam, I always want to puke at the end and I’m just not great at them😝🤷🏼♀️. BUT, I decided that this is my year and time to start doing some uncomfortable, not so easy things. Hey- I might even start to like the darn things if I do them enough😜!
I squeezed in The Downtown News 5k race into my to see what I could put out. No- I didn’t PR, I didn’t win any overall awards but I stepped out of my comfort zone and I did it🤩. Honestly, for the first time in a long time, I didn’t care what anyone thought of my time (because they really don’t😂🤷🏼♀️). I was genuinely excited to see what I was capable of. I love that I’m trusting my fitness (and not scared of what I might not do), for the first time in a long time💜. It’s liberating and fuels my fire for more races to come. Sure, my finish time of a 20:02 made me a first place masters winner (👵🏼🤣), but I’m more proud of my attitude and mind shift🙏🏻.
What are some aspects of your life that you feel that you’ve gotten too comfortable? How can you challenge that to better yourself?
