πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯HOME BOUND!!!

After finishing her 24 hours of flat time, we tried therapy β€” and in true Willa fashion, she tried to sit straight up on her own. It hurt and scared her, so this morning she wanted nothing but to lay and rest.
But a few hours later? She was READY.
She got up, walked the halls with her therapists, played in the gym, and showed everyone just how strong she is.

Her neurosurgeon saw no reason to keep us any longer β€” 48 hours post spinal surgery and this girl is unstoppable. πŸ₯ΉπŸ’›
We love our brave girl more than words could ever tell.

Willa had her MRI this morning and the scans looked good! We meet with her oncologist tomorrow to talk about the plan moving forward. We’re officially out of the PICU and on a regular floor now, which feels like such a big step.πŸ₯Ή

She’ll start therapies tomorrow β€” fingers crossed she tolerates everything well. Thank you all for the continued prayers, love, and support. πŸŽ—οΈπŸ’›

Thank you all for the love and prayers. Willa is currently in the PICU. Her pain is under control and we’re keeping her as comfortable as possible. She will have to lay flat on her back for at least 24 hours. Her surgeon was able to do a full resection of the tumor this morning. The tumor was a little more attached than expected, but she shaved it down until nothing was visibly left. Next step is another MRI tomorrow.

Over the past week or so, Willa hasn’t been feeling like herself. A few random symptoms led us to the Children’s ER on Tuesday night, where she tested positive for Rhino-Enterovirus. We were hopeful that her symptoms were simply from the virus, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

Further testing showed that Willa has a growth in her spine.

Her medical team is recommending surgical removal, and treatment will be decided after they learn more about exactly what it is. While we don’t have many answers yet, her neurosurgeon is hopeful that this surgery will be very different β€” and much less dramatic β€” than the one she went through before.

Looking back, Willa’s scan from December showed a few β€œspots.” At the time, the team couldn’t tell if they were simply blood vessels passing through or something else. Those are the same spots that raised concern on this latest scan.

For now, we are home and soaking up time together while we wait for surgery, which will likely be later this month or in early April.

Willa had her routine MRI today. While she was under they removed her ear tubes she had placed a year ago for chronic ear infections. One of them left a hole in her ear drum but we’re hopeful it will close on its own. 🀞🏼Her ears looked good & she didn’t need new tubes placed. She was such a strong girl today- didn’t even cry when she got her IV! We had an appointment after with her oncologist which went well. We’re waiting for a final reading from the radiologist on the MRI but the oncologist thought everything looked normal! πŸ™πŸ» Willa is such a strong, sweet girl and I am so lucky to call her mine!! β™₯️We decided to start a little tradition of Willa holding Briar before her scans and my heart is exploding!!! πŸ₯ΉπŸ˜

As we drive home from a long exhausting day, Ty & I are discussing things we’re thankful for. Of course the normal things - family, friends, our home but our list was longer this year. We are extremely thankful to be able to attend all of our family’s dinners today with a healthy little girl and boy. We missed the last big holiday due to being in the hospital. We are also thankful for all of you and the prayers you’ve sent/continue to send our way. β™₯️

As tiring as it is to run from place to place- I am so grateful we GET to. Never take these long, exhausting holidays for granted. You never know where you’ll be the next time.

In June, Reid Cerutti messaged Ty & I asking if he could put together a baseball benefit for Willa. With excitement, we accepted. Since then, we have been counting down the days!!

Although this may have been β€œjust another baseball tournament” to some, it was the most unforgettable, heartwarming baseball tournament to us.
Reid poured his heart & soul into every little detail of this tournament/benefit. The teams, the coaches, the umps, the fans, the volunteers, the medals, the rings, the raffles, the silent auction- everything was perfect.

Reid was the man behind everything but there is also an endless list of people to thank. Thank you to everyone who came, helped and made it all possible.

I pray for guidance and protection for my daughter and our family.

I pray for strength and peace to face whatever results we receive.

I pray the doctors be blessed with wisdom as they read my daughter’s results.

I pray the results are positive and reassuring.

I pray for my daughter to live a long, healthy life.

Tomorrow we will be headed to STL for Willa’s first big MRI since tumor removal and radiation. Please say all the prayers and send all the good vibes. πŸ’›πŸŽ—οΈ
