Home is where you make it. 🏠🎨
Right now, our guys are painting the walls of their new ranch house.
Brush stroke by brush stroke, they’re building something they can be proud of.

Recovery works the same way.

No one else can rebuild your life for you.
It takes effort. Patience. And a willingness to start fresh.
Out here, the men at Mountain Valley Recovery don’t just talk about rebuilding.
They pick up the tools and do it themselves.

Regaining Trust in Recovery 🤝

Rebuilding trust after addiction doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, humility, and consistent action. If you're working to rebuild relationships, here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Be prepared for resistance. Not everyone will trust you right away
• Put yourself in their shoes and lead with empathy
• Be patient. Trust takes time to rebuild
• Learn to forgive yourself and focus on growth
• Remember, you can only change yourself, not others

Recovery isn’t just about getting sober.
It’s about showing up, day after day, and earning trust one step at a time.

3 Steps for a Healthy Intervention

When your family is at their breaking point, but you don't wanna quit those struggling with it. Here are some tips to give you some courage and strength to help your loved ones.

1. Have a Plan Ready
Before the conversation, know the next step. This could mean calling a treatment program, speaking with a professional, or arranging an assessment. Having options ready makes it easier to act in the moment. At Mountain Valley Recovery, we’re always available to help families talk through options and next steps.

2. Speak With Care
Use calm, respectful language. Share specific concerns and how their behavior has affected you. Focus on hope and solutions.

3. Stay Unified
Everyone involved should stay on the same page. Avoid arguing, blaming, or sending mixed messages. A unified, supportive approach helps your loved one see that everyone cares and wants the same goal: recovery.

An intervention isn’t about forcing change.
It’s about opening a door and showing them they don’t have to walk through it alone.

What happens to the cowboy after he rides into the sunset?

Recovery doesn’t end at graduation. That’s where the real ride begins.
At Mountain Valley Recovery, we help our guys break the habits that hold them back and replace them with better ones. Then we give those habits time to take root, with a minimum 9-month stay.
But it takes more than good habits to step back into the world they left behind. To graduate, each man needs:

• A job lined up
• A therapist in place
• A roof over his head
• A community ready to welcome him

Now he’s got the skills, the support, and the confidence to ride tall into that sunset.

A good fence doesn’t mean you hate your neighbors.
It means you know what belongs inside your pasture and what doesn’t.

Boundaries work the same way in recovery.

They protect your peace.
They keep the things that help you grow inside your life…
and the things that tear you down on the outside.

A man rebuilding his life has to learn where his fence line is.

Who he spends time with. Where he goes. What he allows back into his life.

Good fences don’t keep a man trapped.
They give him the space to grow strong again.

A house can be rebuilt board by board.

But rebuilding a life takes something more.
This past year we lost a lot when the residence our guys lived in burned down. For the men here who were already trying to rebuild their lives, it was another hard reminder that things can fall apart fast.
But rebuilding isn’t about putting the same house back where the old one stood.
It’s about building something stronger than what was there before.

A better foundation. Stronger walls. A new future.

That’s the same work the men at Mountain Valley Recovery are doing every day. Recovery isn’t about returning to the man you used to be. It’s about becoming a better one.

The house is coming back. And so are the men rebuilding their lives inside it.
If you or someone you know would like to help the men here who are working to rebuild their lives, we would be grateful for the support.
Donations of clothing, furniture, books, or financial contributions will go directly toward rebuilding their ranch house and helping them get back on their feet.

If you’d like to help, please reach out to us to learn how you can contribute.

“A cowboy’s story burns bright like fire and lives on in the ashes.” — Murdock
There’s a moment at the end of a long day when the work is done, the sun slips behind the hills, and the fire is burning down to its last log. The noise fades and the world gets quiet.
A lot of campfires have heard things no one else ever will. Regrets. Confessions. Promises to do better. Plans for a different life.
Around fires like that, men have decided to quit drinking. To call their families. To try again. To become someone better than the man they were that morning.

We’ve got the fire pit, the wood, and the matches.

But you’re the one who has to step close enough to feel the warmth…
and you’re the one who has to speak the truth over the crackle of the fire.
It is time for you to focus on your mental health.

Rock bottom has a way of convincing a man the climb back is impossible.
When you’re already worn down by addiction, life can feel like too much. Like the mountain is too steep to climb.

But recovery starts with one thing: a shift in mindset.

Rock bottom isn’t the end of the story.
It’s the place where a man decides how hard he’s willing to fight to climb back up.

“It’s a mindset to fight your way back to the top.” — Lisa Lockhart

Most men measure their worth by what they can build, fix, and provide.
When addiction takes hold, that sense of purpose often disappears. A man can start to believe he has nothing left to offer.

At Mountain Valley Recovery, we help men rebuild that belief with their own two hands.

Long-term recovery is strengthened through vocational training. Our clients learn hands-on skills like carpentry, welding, ranch work, equipment repair, and agriculture. We also help men pursue certifications in trades that open doors to other careers.

Every finished project becomes proof.
Proof they can learn.
Proof they can contribute.
Proof they are capable of far more than addiction ever told them.

By the time a man graduates our program, he leaves with more than sobriety. He leaves with practical skills, confidence, and a new path forward.

Recovery is not just about stopping something.

It is about becoming someone again.
