April 5th is Gold Star Spouses Day. 💛 Today, we pause to honor the incredible men and women who lost their spouses while serving our country. Their love, sacrifice, and strength are a true testament to the cost of freedom. We see you, we honor you, and we are forever grateful. 💛

Today, Warrior Wellness Program honors Army Sgt. 1st Class Paul R. Smith and Army Capt. Tristan N. Aitken—two extraordinary heroes who gave everything on April 4, 2003, in Iraq.

Paul Smith was the first Medal of Honor recipient of the Global War on Terror. His courage and selfless actions saved countless lives. Tristan Aitken embodied the very best of leadership and service. Both men stood for something bigger than themselves.

They also served alongside our Executive Director Chris Sowell—which is why this day holds particular meaning for our entire Warrior Wellness community. Their sacrifice shaped who we are and why we do this work.

Their courage will never be forgotten. Their legacy lives on in the veterans and families we serve every day.

We honor the memory of Chief Petty Officer John Balazs of Division 11, USCG Auxiliary — a veteran of over 50 years of service in the U.S. Navy, Naval Reserve, and Coast Guard Auxiliary.

In his honor, a handgun has been donated to support our Annual Shoot for Post-Traumatic Growth — a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of himself in service to his country and his community.

Rest easy, Chief. Your legacy lives on in every life you touched. 🎯🙏
