What I Learned From Being A Team Physician Quietly
Doing the right thing multiplies.
Years ago, I was asked to serve as the team physician for Cavalier FC in Jamaica. I accepted with gratitude.
What began as a simple act of service quickly became a gift in my life. On weekend mornings when I was home in Jamaica running my practice, I would train with the team. Sometimes I even got the chance to start at striker with the B team. On a good day we would give the A team a real match.
I remember one game when I played well and the captain, whose nickname is Messi, walked over and said, “Doc, you played great today.” It felt special.
Over the years I treated many of the players, wrote important medical letters for the club, and supported the team whenever I could. I never thought about what I might gain in return. I simply believed it was the right thing to do.
Fast forward to 2025.
There I was walking the sidelines and into the locker room at Inter Miami Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, watching Messi up close.
Life has a way of multiplying small acts of goodwill.
Serving those players freely gave me something far greater in return. It gave me joy, friendships, and a reminder that doing the right thing creates opportunities that cannot be planned.
My journey through trials and challenges has reinforced this belief. There is a purpose in the work we do and the people we help along the way.
I am grateful for the investors and colleagues who believed it was the right thing to partner with me to build our own company.
Doing the right thing multiplies.
Thank you.
