Happy Nurses Week 🥼✨

On April 15th, 2015 I passed the NCLEX and became a Registered Nurse. On April 7th, 2019 I passed the AANC Boards and became a Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. As the only child of Haitian immigrants 🇭🇹 and part of the 8% of Black Women Nurse Practitioners. I am humbled & honored

Over the past decade, spans from bedside as a Med Surg Nurse, Urology Surgery as a Nurse Practitioner, Telemedicine, Primary/Urgent care, Home Health Evaluator, Travel NP, and a Professor.

Nursing has changed me, giving me a new appreciation for life, love, and relationships. It has been one of my greatest joys, but also one of my hardest.

We can sometimes be overlooked, underappreciated, & carry what can feel like the weight of the world on our shoulders. Our body tend to carry the emotional memory of patient interactions that we may not always speak about.

I’ve sat in fear with my patients’ holding space for them while trying to hold space for myself, been an anchor for others as they take their last breath transitioning, and cried happy tears with patients’ as they completed their treatments. All these moments I’ll never take for granted.

Nursing owes me nothing

I have met some of my closest friends, been grateful for the opportunity to travel the world & experience life, and create a lifestyle that my younger self would dream of 🙏🏽

To the field I love so dearly, thank you. Wishing a Happy Nurses’ Week to ALL Nurses. Although it may not always feel like it, but please remember you are the light & heartbeat of healthcare ❤️

Congratulations to all of the Spring 2025 Nursing graduates! Your resilience, tenacity, hard work, and sacrifices throughout the years has all come to fruition. I hope you’re all proud of yourself as we (faculty), family, and friends are of you!

It remains my absolute privilege to have been your Professor & watch you blossom into amazing healthcare providers. You all have SHOWED UP day after day, despite tests, exams, etc and for that I commend you

We are 2 days away from Tau Omega’s MLK Day of Service ✨

For our Centennial year we’ve collaborated with all of the Divine Nine, our undergraduate chapter, and community partner!

🗣️ Please remember, this service project is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - so that means EVERYONE (Greeks, non-greek, family, friends, etc.) arrive with your donated items & be ready to assemble care packages to combat homelessness. Our goal for this year is to assemble 1,000 care packages! This will undoubtedly be an impactful day.

As we celebrate the holidays & approach the end of the year, I wanted to pen a love letter to resilience & to us 💌

Resilience, you’ve allowed us to be adaptable, versatile, & never wavered. In the face of adversity, you not only guided us over, but through what may not have seemed possible. You showed up for us, even when we doubted ourselves. Resilience darling, you started off as a skill and with each passing day you became a divine blessing. Thank you, I cherish you, I love you and looking forward to entering this upcoming year together.

This time of year is such a beautiful moment to slow down reflect, acknowledge, and surrender to all that you’ve overcame. If you had to tap into your resilience & you’re STILL here, I wanted to let you know I’m proud of you

I would be remiss not to acknowledge the resilience of all my Nursing students that have successfully graduated, my family, friends, Sorority sisters, colleagues, & all of you 🩷

Happy Nurse Practitioner Week to all the amazing NPs that work relentlessly to provide high quality, culturally competent care to our patients 🙌🏽💊💉

Did you know that Black Women make up less than 10% of Nurse Practitioners?

This statistic alone motivates and fuels my passion to continue to excel in the field. I absolutely love working collaboratively with my patients as we combat health disparities, especially in black and brown communities advocating for them while providing culturally competent care. As an educator, I’ve been granted the opportunity to be an integral part of my students’ journey, preparing the next generation of Nurses with skills and tools that’ll allow them to be successful in their careers.

Thank you to my mentors, colleagues, and all the Nurse Practitioners that came before me paving the way in such a prestigious field. I could not be more honored to be a NP👩🏽‍⚕️🩺

Despite where you are in your Nursing journey, don’t stop! Remember your village (us) is cheering you on 👏🏽

This past weekend owes me nothing, celebrating Howard’s 100th Homecoming surrounded by Black excellence!

Stepping on the yard as a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha, was a full circle moment that’s been in the making for over a decade IYKYK. The emotions that were flowing through me, I still can’t articulate. My heart is beyond full 💕💚
