From Rev. Maurice Washington:
DON'T BE A FOOL BECAUSE OF A FOOL
Proverbs 26:4…”Don't answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are."
Jackass told Tiger that the grass is blue. Tiger of course responded that the grass is green. They argued back and forth until Tiger said, "Let's take our argument to Lion the King, and let him be the judge." They were granted an audience with Lion the King and each one presented his argument. The King listened to each of them, then said, "The grass is blue." Jackass brayed with glee, then told Lion the King that he should punish Tiger. The king agreed and sentenced Tiger to stay 24 hours in the darkest part of a nearby cave without company, light, food, or water. When the 24 hours had passed, Tiger left the cave hurt, and angry, asking Lion the King, "Why did you punish me." Lion responded, “First, because you were a fool for arguing with a fool, and secondly, because you wasted my time by bringing that foolishness to me." There are a few people in this world for whom truth and wisdom don't matter. Wise counsel does not affect them. They have no desire to change or grow and they think they are always right about everything. These are fools. Don't argue with them because it is like arguing with a box of rocks. They will not hear you and it makes you look foolish to argue with them. Some people are fools because their egos won't allow them to admit they were wrong. Others are fools because they can't admit that what they were taught by their elders was wrong, while others are just not comfortable with change. Don't bother to argue with a fool. State your case as wisely as possible, but if it is not received, move on down the road. It is not your job to change people. If you are at peace with Jesus concerning what you believe, then you don't have to worry about trying to make a fool see your point. When you can't bring someone up, don't let them bring you down. Much love! God bless!
