Our heartfelt thanks go to the Assistance League of Hawaii for their continued support of PATH women and their children. This summer, they donated backpacks filled with organic, shelf-stable foods, simple, practical items that make an immediate difference for families navigating food insecurity. Each of the 50 backpacks, one per family, is thoughtfully packed with proteins, carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and milk to help ease daily stress.
This isn’t new for them. Since 2009, the Assistance League of Hawaii has also provided Mālama Bears and baby layettes to our women, small comforts that carry a lot of meaning during vulnerable moments.
The backpacks are distributed directly by providers when a patient shares concerns about food access, whether in OB-GYN, behavioral health, to***co cessation, or primary care. It’s a simple, dignified process: a need is identified, and support is placed directly into the patient’s hands.
And in a moment that perfectly captured the spirit behind the donation, Dianne, representing the Assistance League, graciously declined having her photo taken with the backpacks. Instead, she insisted that Jacque Tellie, Director of PATH be in the picture. It was a small gesture, but it said everything: for her, and for the organization, this work has never been about recognition, it’s about showing up, year after year, for the people who need it most.
We are deeply grateful for their partnership and the care they continue to bring into our community. Assistance League of Hawaii
