In the final post of what I’ve nicknamed my “wedding decompression” series, I tried to make sense of the paradox that defined the last year:

the joy of creating an event that told the story of our love vs the anxiety of wanting every last detail to go perfectly for everyone else.

If I could share just a few lessons from the experience, they’d be:

🍒 Pick five moments you want to feel fully present for & then really sink into them when you arrive.
🫐 Let yourself enjoy the parts of wedding planning that actually feel fun (hello 600 orders), guilt-free!
🍓 Remember: your wedding doesn’t have to be “the happiest day of your life” to be perfect.

Mine wasn’t. But it was beautiful, meaningful, and something I’m deeply proud of.

You can read the full reflection - & all 9 lessons learned - via the link in my bio.

For those who’ve gone through it, was YOUR wedding the happiest day of your life?

Having our wedding at was a dream come true. So much went perfect. & if you just saw the photos, you’d think that’s all there was to it. But nothing is ever perfect! Despite all of my grasping & white knuckling.

I write to process reality (accepting the good, reframing the bad). So in part 3 of my wedding blog series, I share a behind the scenes look at the emotional experience behind the day, from the surreal to the sublime, from the “I’m gonna s**t myself” to the “holy s**t that was epic!” moments.

I think honestly a Q on my mind when I write this is: am I normal? Does everyone grapple with this duality on their wedding? But I know it’s the wrong question to be asking. No one life/wedding is the same, and it’s up to me to make sense of my experience.

So, if you care to follow along, I’m writing all about it. Peep the latest in my bio :)

Perfectionism + pressure = 💣💥🌋 on the blog this week, I share the meltdown experience I went through one month before my wedding, along with a few things that helped (aaand a few things I wish I’d done differently 😅).

Namely, I wish I’d just let go of more things, even 20%. We all know it’s 20% of the things that make 80% of the impact…but a perfectionist has a hard time letting balls drop, even if they’re small & insignificant 🤹🏻‍♀️

If you’re struggling with all of your balls in the air right now - and it’s causing you to have public meltdowns (like me on the streets of sf after a brow wax gone bad, see pic #2) - I beg you to seriously ask yourself:

what 20% of my to do list can I just scrap, and I’ll still get where I need to go?

I thought being a perfectionist would be my superpower in planning a wedding. Instead, it left me anxious, awake at 3am, and endlessly second-guessing decisions.

In hindsight, three lessons stand out:
👰🏻‍♀️ No one cares as much as you do. Being a perfectionist bride is lonely & the mental load is heavy.
💍 Know your KPIs - they matter. I didn’t realize until after the fact that i wasn’t optimizing for “the happiest day of my life.”
🕊️ More choices don’t make you happier. & no choice is worth agonizing over for months.

I share the full story in Part 1 of my wedding reflection series: How to Plan Your Wedding Without Losing Your Sanity (Confessions of a Perfectionist Bride).

According to my one line a day journal, I walked into my first therapists office 9 (!) years ago today. To honor the ani, I thought I’d share 9 things I’ve learned since then:

1. The relationship with your therapist matters more than any technique.
2. Finding one is like dating; start before crisis mode hits.
3. Therapy is chic now!! If you needed permission, here it is.
4. I’ve done therapy for sleep, relationships, and self: all helpful.
5. Coaching can also be a powerful support tool.
6. Virtual therapy = surprisingly effective.
7. Tap your company benefits (EAP, Lyra, etc.).
8. ChatGPT can’t replace a real therapist.
9. Above all, you have to like your therapist…and feel like they like you.

If you’re in therapy: keep going. If you’ve been thinking about it: consider this your sign 💙

🌿 Curious about functional medicine? So was I. After years of chronic gut skin & immune system issues, I realized traditional medicine wasn’t going to fix me & tried a functional, integrative doctor. Here’s a sneak peak of what I learned:

1️⃣ your symptoms tell a story - find a doctor who will listen
2️⃣ the right supplements work WONDERS - but don’t blindly try to navigate this yourself or you’ll waste money (yes slide 6 was an average day!)
3️⃣ sustainable healing takes time - liiike 9 months for me 🙃 but it’s soo worth it

Want the details? Click the link below for the full post on Blue Sky Mind or follow me here - I’ll be sharing a video series on my journey soon!

It’s been a minute since I wrote a book review 📚for BSM but this one had to be shared:

“how to do the work” x .holistic.psychologist is one of the more powerful personal growth books I’ve read in years.

I can’t stop recommending it to anyone who over thinks, people pleases, struggles with chronic stress/anxiety & the like - it didn’t blow my mind with new information but it helped me connect a lot of dots for numerous “aha” unlock moments 💡🗝️ & that’s where my growth is coming from these days.

If you’re interested in my reflections on the book, head to Blue Sky Mind for the rundown 💙🦋🔵🌀🩵🏙️

First, I told everyone in my personal life about this book. Now, I need to tell the world. READ THIS BOOK IF YOU HAVE WORK TO DO. Specifically, if you're a high-achieving, always-anxious, struggles to sleep &/or has chronic GI issues kinda individual 🙋‍♀️

This book, written by The Holistic Psychologist (follower her on FB or IG), isn't offering a ton of "new information" on the topic of mental health & wellness, but she connected a lot of dots for me. I love her simple explanation of why even kids from wonderful homes and families can still go on to become an adult with a lot of "work" to do (because it's something I can relate to).

“The majority of us feel unseen, unheard, and unloved, and we carry this pain with us throughout our lives,” the author writes.

So what can we do about it?
1. Get out of autopilot
2. Build trust with yourself through consistency
3. Learn your intuitive voice
4. And so much more

Check out my review for the full thesis of the book, as well as my biggest takeaways ⭐️ If you've read this book, what kind of impression did it leave on you? I'd love to know in the comments.

Every few years, I read a personal development book that fits like a key into a lock inside my brain. These books open up entirely new avenues of self reflection and growth, and it happened recently while reading Dr. Nicole LePera’s debut book, “How to Do the Work: Recognize Your Patterns, Heal ...

💪🏼 Did you know that the average 30-year old woman needs about ~20g of protein per meal to meet their minimum daily requirement? If that’s a challenge for you, consider investing in high quality protein bars.

🔎 I personally analyzed the nutrition labels & taste of 7 bars you can easily purchase on Amazon to figure out which had the least weird ingredients & best calorie-protein-fiber-sugar ratio (without tasting like garbage).

🥇My #1 pick for taste, ingredients & cost? bars! But there are a bunch of other category winners at the link in my profile. Check it out so you’re not in a pinch the next time you’re a little under your daily goal!
