🔥 Stay safe and cozy by following these tips:
• Keep anything combustible at least 3 feet away from heaters.
• Have your chimney and furnace inspected annually.
• Never use your oven or stove to heat your home.

PSA: If you're a Rhode Islander receives SNAP benefits, please be aware that today, November 1st, you will not see your normal SNAP funds for the month of November on your EBT card. Please be aware before making grocery purchases.

*NOTE: On Friday, two federal judges ordered the Trump administration to continue funding for SNAP during the government shutdown. Even with this court ruling, SNAP benefits will not be loaded on recipients' EBT cards on Saturday. We continue to follow this evolving situation closely.*

While select households with children may have received a portion of their normal SNAP monthly benefit, the MAJORITY of households in Rhode Island will NOT see their EBT balances replenished today.

• If you have leftover funds from previous month(s) on your EBT card, those funds may still be used at authorized retailers.
• You can check your EBT balance by visiting ebtedge.com or calling 1-888-979-9939.
• Visit RI DHS's SNAP support website for more information: SNAPSupport.RI.gov

The Jonnycake Center of Westerly is here to help! The government shutdown is creating a lot of uncertainty at the moment and affecting many. As of November 1st, if the shutdown is still ongoing, those who rely on SNAP benefits will not be receiving their assistance.

We understand this is a particularly challenging time due to the upcoming holidays surrounding the purchasing and preparing of food. We want to remind the members of our community that we are here to assist in any way that we can. Pantry access, Thrift Store vouchers, and resources throughout our community are available to our clients. Additionally, our Holiday Program is accepting registrations until Friday, October 31st.
