The holiday season is here. With extra gatherings, deadlines, and to-do lists, it’s easy for stress to sneak in and for your jaw to start clenching or bracing without you even realizing it. 😬
One of the most important TMJ habits is daily jaw check-ins. These are the moments where we most often see clenching happen without awareness:
• While driving or sitting at a stoplight
• While working at your computer
• While scrolling your phone
• While waiting in line
• While walking
• While cooking or doing chores
• While exercising
• Before sleep or on waking
• During stressful transitions
Your jaw is most relaxed when your lips are gently closed, teeth slightly apart, and your tongue resting gently on the roof of your mouth. Even a few seconds of awareness can help calm overworked muscles and reduce jaw, neck, and shoulder tension.
If clenching, headaches, or jaw pain are becoming a pattern, support can help.
