I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 15 years and am just as passionate about the topic of nutrition and wellness now as I was in college. I graduated with a B.S. in Food and Nutrition from North Dakota State University. I was also cheerleader, dancer and fitness instructor. I strove to live a healthy lifestyle, but was often derailed by life. As I grew into a mother and experience nutrition practitioner, I noticed that taking care of ourselves was not a priority. As a result our health and wellness gets put on the back burner and we say “tomorrow I’ll go to the gym” and “Monday I’ll start eating better”. But tomorrow never comes and there is always next Monday. As I saw individuals grow sicker, more obese and more stressed, I realized that I wanted my focus to switch from reactive to pro-active. I wanted to make wellness a priority for me, my family and those around me.
So - I quit my full time job and began doing yoga, eventually gaining a group fitness certification and began teaching fitness classes again. I found that being centered myself helped me find the balance I had been looking for. I know that we all can’t just up a quit working, but we can take some time, even if it is just a little, to step off the train of life and just breath. To focus more on “what is” instead of “what if”. To dig deep into our souls and find the “why” behind our motivations use it to stay motivated. To stop running ourselves ragged and start walking with a purpose. Thus HYPE was conceived. Healing Yourself through Positive Energy.
My goal is to help others find that balance in life. The balance between work, play, health, nutrition and rest. To help you realize you are just as important as those you take care of and that you also need selfcare and selflove.
