At Harmony Yoga Studio, we genuinely care about the well-being and safety of all our students. Because of this, we require participants to be able to move and stand independently, specifically transitioning between the floor and standing without assistance. This guideline is in place to ensure everyone’s safety, maintain the flow of our multi-level beginner yoga classes, and manage liability effectively. We understand that everyone has unique needs, and we want to highlight the reasons behind this requirement with empathy:
1. **Safety and Risk Management: ** We recognize that frequent movement between the floor and standing can sometimes cause lightheadedness or balance issues. If a student struggles to stand without support, we believe they might be better served through chair-based, private, or specialized classes that can better accommodate their needs.
2. **Physical Limitations: ** If a student is experiencing shaking or lacks the strength to remain steady, it’s a sign they may be at higher risk of injury. Our priority is to provide a safe environment, and classes involving complex standing movements may not be suitable in these cases.
3. **Class Flow and Structure: ** Our standard classes often involve transitions that require independent mobility, such as moving from a lunge to standing. We want every student to enjoy a seamless experience in their practice.
4. **Accessibility Alternatives: ** Our instructors are committed to offering chair-based alternatives for individuals with limited mobility. We aim to provide supportive options rather than placing anyone in poses that might feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
We truly value inclusivity at Harmony Yoga Studio. For those who may not meet these requirements, we’re excited to announce that we will soon be offering chair yoga and gentle classes. These options will allow everyone to experience the benefits of yoga while remaining seated or supported. Thank you for your understanding and support as we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all.
