The Family Care Center teamed up with the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine's Latino Medical Student Association at this year’s Get Up, Get Moving event. 🎉

Community members received hearing screenings and learned about our services and resources. Thank you to the Hispanic Health Coalition for hosting this great day of wellness!

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a time to recognize the millions of individuals and families affected by this disease. 💜

Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, causing changes in memory, thinking, and behavior. As family physician Dr. Zulfiqar reminds us, these changes are not personal, they’re the result of how the disease impacts the brain, not the heart. 🧠

For caregivers, this journey can be both meaningful and challenging. Seeking help, connecting with support networks, and taking time for self-care are essential steps to maintaining emotional and physical well-being.

At Family Care Center, we’re here to support patients, families, and caregivers with compassionate, comprehensive care. You are not alone.

Parents, let’s keep the little ghouls safe this Halloween! 👻🎃

Here are a few simple tips for a fun and worry-free night of trick-or-treating:
✨ Walk in groups
✨ Use reflective tape, glow sticks, or flashlights to be seen
✨ Stay on sidewalks and cross at corners
✨ Check candy before your kids enjoy it

You don’t have to wait until you feel “old enough” for perimenopause to begin. 🌸

Perimenopause typically starts in your late 30s to early 40s, but timing can vary. It can be difficult to identify because symptoms often appear subtly.

Many people notice changes in their sleep 🛌, mood 😔, focus 🧠, cycles 📅, or energy ⚡ before they realize what’s happening. Less common symptoms, like weight gain ⚖️, brain fog 🧩, irritability 😤, and shifts in your sense of self, can also appear.

If this feels familiar, know you’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone.

Recognizing these signs early matters. Supporting both your hormones and nervous system can help you feel like yourself again. 🤍
