In honor of National BIPOC Mental Health Month, let's come together to raise awareness, break the stigma, and ensure access to mental health resources for all communities. By supporting diversity and inclusion in mental health care, we can create a more understanding and supportive environment for everyone.
BIPOC Mental Health Month is a nationwide effort developed by Bebe Moore Campbell of National Alliance on Mental Illnesses (NAMI) to recognize mental health issues in disadvantaged communities. She co-founded NAMI Urban Los Angeles and became a national change agent whose groundbreaking work revolutionized the way we approach mental health in underserved communities. She recognized and understood the detrimental consequences of silence rooted in stigma — one of the reasons for the lack of mental health care and treatment within communities of color.
Remember, mental wellness is for all, and by empowering each other, we can make a real difference.
