Nithy was born in upstate New York and grew up in The Colony, TX. Since 2021, she’s lived in Houston, TX and has worked in hospitality, providing for and anticipating the needs of her community through a culinary experience. She is honored and excited to provide the same heart and attention to the families of Houston during their birth journeys to help support their transitions with their best interests in mind.
During her time at the University of Houston, Nithy studied Human Development and Family Studies and has always had an interest and passion to understand the connection between the structures around us and their impact on how families can thrive in that space. With research and experience, she’s seen the many gaps in our society that can lead to individuals and families placing their health and prosperity as a second-tier pursuit.
Nithy believes any task beyond nurturing the parent-child bond is something that a “village” can come together and support their neighbors with, whether through physical recovery, sharing evidence-based care and wisdom, allowing the time to process their journey, and assisting with the everyday tasks that can pull us away from the moment. Through Southern Lotus Birthing, Nithy commits herself to honoring the personal and cultural experiences of Houston families, and supporting them through a well-informed and intentional experience to show that all types of families can thrive in the place we all call “home” with the resources that every family deserves access to.
