๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿค–AI Meets Emergency Cardiac Care!

EM's Dr. Benjamin Cooper, MD, MEd, contributed to a groundbreaking study showing how AI ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ can dramatically improve heart attack detection. The "Queen of Hearts" platform boosted accuracy in identifying ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) while reducing false alarms - helping clinicians act faster and smarter. โค๏ธโšก

Presented at the transcatheter cardiovascular therapeutics symposium ๐Ÿ“Š, Dr. Cooperโ€™s work highlights how AI can streamline triage, reduce unnecessary activations, and ensure patients get timely lifesaving care. the study included over 1,000 patients across three hospitals and is published ๐Ÿ“š in "JAAC: Cardiovascular."

Weโ€™re proud of Dr. Cooper for advancing emergency medicine with innovation, expertise, and tangible impact on the future of patient care.๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

Making patient safety a priority! ๐Ÿš‘ โšก

Drs. Jacqueline Okere and Felisha Perry-Smith presented their workshop, โ€œB. M&Ms! A Blueprint for a Quality Assurance Program to Nurture a Culture of Safety in a Medical Group,โ€ at the HMF Research Symposium this past weekend.

HMF (Houston Medical Forum) - a long-standing community of Black physicians, residents, and medical students committed to health equity, mentorship, and medical excellence, brought together experts, trainees, and community leaders for a full day of research, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿค

Thinking about getting involved? HMF membership offers incredible perks: networking, mentorship, member spotlights, culturally relevant CME, leadership opportunities, exclusive event discounts, and meaningful community outreach. A powerful way to connect, grow, and make an impact. ๐ŸŒŸ

Please keep up the great work, Drs. Okere and Perry-Smith!๐Ÿ‘

UTH CORE x YMCA West Orem Recap!๐Ÿ’š

Huge thank you to everyone who came out to the West Orem YMCA ๐Ÿคธ for our community CPR & AED training! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ

This was an incredible learning experience, especially for many of our elders ๐Ÿง“ in the community who shared they had no idea how impactful hands-only CPR ๐Ÿ’ข can be in saving someone's life until EMS arrives ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿš‘. Knowing the skills and the power behind them truly makes a difference.

A special thanks to our amazing faculty and partners who helped make this session possible:
โœจ Dr. Renee Johnson, Health Outcomes & Social Medicine Director and SIM expert
โœจ Byron โ€œTonyโ€ Harrison, EMS and SIM guru
โœจ And a few of our friends and med students from the SSEM (Student Society of Emergency Medicine) and external community leaders for lending their time and support.

We had a great turnout and an even greater energy. Already looking forward to our next event! ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

Happy PA Week 2025! ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

Each year from October 6โ€“12, we celebrate the incredible impact of Physician Assistants in health care. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ’‰ PAs bring compassion, expertise, and dedication to the frontlines of medicineโ€”helping patients and supporting teams every single day. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

This week also honors the roots of the profession, dating back to 1967 when the first class of PAs graduated from Duke University ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ“œ. From those beginnings to todayโ€™s vital role in modern medicine, PAs continue to shape the future of care ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿฅ.

๐Ÿ’™ To kick off the celebration, check out how Good Morning America opened PA Week in the video below ๐ŸŽฅโœจ.

Hereโ€™s to our amazing UTHealth Houston PAs! Weโ€™re grateful for everything you do ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’›
