How does it work?
The gut and brain talk to each other through:
1. Nerves - especially the vagus nerve, which sends signals directly from the gut to the brain.
2. Hormones &
neurotransmitters - gut bacteria help produce serotonin, dopamine, and other chemicals that affect mood and behavior.
3. Immune system - inflammation in the gut can influence the brain, and vice versa.
4. Gut microbiota - trillions of bacteria in the gut play a huge role in digestion, immunity, and even mental health.
