Investigative Genetic Genealogy is now possible, and it is being used to solve major crimes. Through genetic genealogy, it’s very possible that many of the back log of unsolved crimes can be solved and/or being solved. DNA doesn’t lie, and the fact that this can change the way we live, maybe people will be safer. Shera LaPoint also known as The Gene Hunter, is a genetic genealogist with a passion for bringing families together and helping law enforcement agencies solve crimes. A native of south Louisiana with deep Cajun roots, she turned to the Ancestry website to learn more about her family tree after the death of her grandfather-and discovered a life-changing new passion. Now a popular lecturer and professional genealogist who has completed over seventy-five cases where adoptees or people of unknown parentage were reunited with their families, Shera was praised by the League City, Texas, Police Department for helping solve the decades old “Killing Fields” murder case.
