💙There I was - 37 years old and weighing nearly 250 pounds with 47% body fat - desperately in need of a change to my sedentary lifestyle and crazy eating habits. My first day at the gym, I went in and immediately found something I was comfortable with, the treadmill. Even though I have a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, I didn’t feel like I knew what I was doing because of my obesity.
I started going to Life Time five days a week for about an hour or so per day. My routine was simple, drop off the kids at the Kids Academy and get on the treadmill. I began to get to know people, from other members, to the super helpful instructors. I started to venture out to other places in the gym; I had even gotten up enough courage to go try Daisy’s AMP cycle class (in the back row of course). I did that for a good two weeks and even decided that I would continue most of my routine on my work trip I had coming up. Heaven forbid I stop what I had started!
I started to document my calorie intake via the MyFitnessPal app, track the calories I burned during every workout with my Apple Watch, and even capture progress photos. I knew I was going to do it and do it well, especially since I had committed to the gym five to six days a week, sometimes even seven, and eating healthier on top of that!
I am proud to say, I am currently toning in the maintenance mode of my journey, and I’m loving it! I have lost 86 pounds, weighing in at 161 with 19% body fat and 72% muscle mass! Consistency has kept me addicted to being fit and striving to be better. I’m always trying to change it up to keep it interesting, not allowing my mind and body to get used to doing the same thing over and over again. I’ve done TRX, tried different weight lifting and resistance training techniques, a variety of studio classes, yoga, and even a little tennis. At Life Time, there are so many options! @ Life Time Athletic - Cypress
