This post may ruffle a few feathers, but it needs to be said….

Current society likes to dictate what we should look like as women. That, as moms, it’s selfish to care about our appearance.
That our uniform must be messy buns, stained shirts, baggy pants, and, well, tummy, back, and thigh rolls.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with it, but it’s ALSO okay to say I DON’T WANT THAT ALL THE DAMN TIME!

Yeah, I rock loose shirts because it’s easy to breast feed. Yes, all my clothes are stained with everything Annah (my 8mo old) eats. And I’m not exactly sure where my comb is lolol.

But for some reason, that’s all social media wants to see. In my opinion, I LOOK more more than I actually FEEL.

People have asked why I don’t post a lot of gym selfies, and the reality is…. I’m not built for the world constantly telling me “you’re not realistic goals.” Or the popular “Everyone can’t look like that. So, stop bragging.”

(I’m not making this up)

I had to deal with it before, and post partum, I struggled with confidence and identity just like every new mom does. It just looks different than some. All I can say is I do my best to control the controlables when I can.

And…
When I speak with clients, it’s like they are ASHAMED to say they want to LOOK a certain way AND be healthy at the SAME TIME!

Enough is enough with the one size fits all mentality. When is it ok to just be yourself?!

Watching my face change is wild. Like I know it’s part of pregnancy… but it’s still crazy to know I’ve gained 22-24lbs (2 different doctor’s scales this week) and I’m just entering the 3rd trimester.

I’m told I “look tired” but I don’t feel as tired as I apparently look lol. So far, God’s blessed me with a relatively smooth pregnancy and I’m very grateful for it.

Things people commonly ask me:
“How do you keep your energy up?”
“How are you able to do plyos/jumping?”
“Shouldn’t you stop at this point? All that can’t be healthy.”
“You know you can’t keep this up, right? Just wait…”

Well…. Here are some of my answers:
“I prioritize my nutrition. I don’t “eat for 2” as ppl say. But I’ve increased my caloric intake according to what trimester I’m in and my activity level. I drink 1 gallon of water a day (coconut water included), I eat 125g of protein every day, I avoid a lot of grease and sugars. But I allow myself to have those things from time to time. I stay active. Not obsessively so, though. ”

“I never stopped doing them. I just modified things according to how I felt/feel. My pre-existing athletic ability allows me to continue doing things.”

“My doctors gave me 3 rules…. Because I’m accustomed to being active/lifting/etc, 1- if it hurts, stop doing whatever I’m doing at the moment. 2- if it feels too heavy, make it lighter. 3- if I feel exhausted, slow down…. So no, I won’t be stopping unless my body gives me signs to.”

“I find it rude that people attempt to put their limitations on me. I legit take offense to it. I’ll slow down if/when I need to.”
