At Moody Neuro Lubbock, community outings are an essential part of our treatment approach, helping patients build real-world skills as they prepare for discharge. These experiences target functional goals such as vehicle transfers and community mobility, budgeting, communication, and social pragmatics.

Recently, patients and staff put these skills into practice during a community outing to the new local coffee shop, Yellow City Grind. Everyone enjoyed great coffee, meaningful conversation, and time for leisure activities in a supportive, real-life setting.
Progress doesn’t stop at our doors—it continues in the community.

🧠 Understanding Brain Injury Series | Month 1

A brain injury occurs when damage to the brain disrupts normal function. This can happen from a traumatic event, such as a fall or car accident (traumatic brain injury), or from medical causes, such as a stroke.

Both traumatic brain injuries and strokes can affect thinking, movement, emotions, communication, and daily life. Understanding the different causes of brain injury helps patients, families, and caregivers better support recovery.

Moody in Motion

This month, we’re featuring Ty Fewin, a Lubbock native who serves as a Senior Clinical Liaison in our Business Development and Marketing Department at Moody Neuro Lubbock. Ty has been a valued part of our team since 2010, bringing dedication and heart to everything he does.

Ty’s passion lies in supporting families and walking alongside them throughout their recovery journey. Known for his creativity and compassion, he consistently goes above and beyond to support his team and help ensure every patient receives the highest quality of care. We’re proud to celebrate his leadership, dedication, and positive impact at Moody Neuro.

Outside of work, you’ll find Ty spending time with his grandson, playing golf, or enjoying time away on vacation.

We’ve all heard “New Year, New Me,” but what about becoming a better version of yourself? A new year brings the opportunity for a fresh start, a renewed mindset, and motivation to set meaningful goals.

A positive outlook can play a powerful role in recovery—supporting resilience, progress, and confidence along the way. For our patients and families navigating life after a traumatic injury, positivity paired with purpose can help fuel healing and growth. Every step forward matters.

Moody Neuro Lubbock patients and staff teamed up to blend creativity with a little friendly competition during our gingerbread house challenge! From problem-solving and fine motor skills to communication and teamwork, every piece played a role in building something sweet together. In the end, every participant was a winner in our book!

This season, our therapy sessions were extra sweet! Holiday baking provided a meaningful, hands-on way for patients to work on important skills like sequencing, problem-solving, fine motor coordination, safety awareness, and teamwork—all while having fun.

Beyond the functional goals, baking created opportunities for connection, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment. Plus, the smiles (and delicious results) made the experience even more rewarding!

Therapy doesn’t always look like exercise—it looks like life.

Welcome to our Community Resource Series, where we highlight local opportunities for support, connection, and community involvement. We’re excited to kick off this series by introducing SPARC – South Plains Adaptive Recreation Club!

Founded in 2015 by Heather Beaugh, SPARC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enrichment and empowerment for individuals with disabilities through sport and recreation. SPARC hosts friendly competitions on the second Saturday of each month, creating consistent opportunities for fun, connection, and belonging—made possible through the dedication and support of many volunteers.

At Moody, our patients are encouraged to connect and engage with community resources like SPARC during their time in our program, helping set them up for continued involvement and support after discharge.

To learn more about SPARC and stay up to date on their upcoming events, follow them on Facebook:

As we observe Kwanzaa, we celebrate culture, community, and the values that strengthen us all. Rooted in the seven principles—unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith—Kwanzaa is a time to reflect, connect, and uplift one another.

Wishing peace, purpose, and togetherness to all who are celebrating. ❤️🖤💚
