This week is Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) Awareness Week. According to Project Heart, CHD is the world's most common birth defect, affecting 1.35 million infants every year worldwide. We honor all families who are affected by children with heart defects.

As we wrap up January we want to honor Birth Defect Awareness month.

A birth defect is a condition present at birth regardless of its cause. It can result in disabilities that may be physical, intellectual, or developmental.

Some common birth defects are heart defects, cleft lip/palate, Spina Bifida, and Down Syndrome.

We want to take the time to not only raise awareness but to also applaud parents who have children with birth defects. We see you and we honor you!

January 24th is Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day. At Chayah Pediatric Therapy we want to educate on topics that are not always common.

Moebius Syndrome is a rare birth condition that results from underdevelopment of the facial nerves that control some of the eye movements and facial expressions. The condition can also affect the nerves responsible for speech, chewing and swallowing.

Did you know that communication is an essential life skill? It can be verbal or nonverbal. work with children to him them acquire communication skills. Even if your child does not speak, he/she can still learn to communicate 🗣👌🏼🤲🏻

If you have concerns or questions about your child's hearing 👂 speak to your pediatrician who would refer you to an audiologist.
